These days, the term "蘿莉(塔)" often appeared on UDN online front page. Out of curiosity, finally I logged on to see what it is, and I found it's the translation of an English girls' name, Lolita, that has symbolized a fad of Japanese sub-culture that the adolescent girls(age 11-14) are pursuing the way of their dresses and make-ups in exaggeratedly old-fashioned style. Then I further looked the term up in my dictionary and I found "Lolita" actually denotes a sexually precocious girl, a bimbo, which originates from the female protagonist in Uladimir Nabokov's novel "Lolita". I haven't read that novel, but I do remember it had been adapted for a film which was shown in Taiwan under Chinese title "一樹梨花壓海棠", half a century ago. Okay, now you understand why the "Lolita Syndrome" is prevailing in Japan: a collective sex fantasies out of perverted male grown-ups towards young girls. Is that a dogmatic statement? If you've ever seen Japanese porn movies, then you may find it's not. Several years ago I was feeling so nauseating when I saw a piece of news that students and teachers of some girls's high(or junior high) were happy about the school decided to order up-to-knee white socks be part of students' uniform because "that made them look like cute Japanese girls". Don't tell me it is just a cultural phenomenon; rather, it is a sheer frivolity of sick philo-Japanese mindset in Taiwan, so disgusting and pathetic. |
