I read at six different elementary schools during my six years as a kid. Why?  My family then did not have a place to settle down, so we had to keep moving around. Therefore, moving was familiar but also unpleasant to me before I finally settled down in my present apartment at Niehu thirty years ago.

But now we have to move again. My wife and I are all over 75 years old, and more and more we find it a little difficult to walk 15 minutes to where the bus and subway stations are located and the stores and markets where we could get things we need.

Yesterday we hired a moving company to carry most of our stuff to an apartment in the more convenient area of Dazhi. Why "most", instead of all? My daughter and two granddaughters will come back to Taiwan next month to spend their summer vacation, and we plan to let them stay in the new place before us. We bought some new furniture, such as brand new beds and mattresses, for them, while my wife and I will remain at Niehu until the family of my daughter returns to the States. By that time, we will "move" again, taking with us only the indispensable stuff and throwing away all others.

Unless absolutely necessary, I hope this will be my last move wirhin Taiwan.
