Recently several highly controversial photos taken by some paparazzi have become the spotlight during the "mid-term" election.  That DPP candidate running for the mayor of Taipei was exposed himself to a scandal of sex harassment of holding his former woman subordinate’s hand tightly and then holding her over her shoulder closely, in front of her husband who also used to be his subordinate, out of a ritzy restaurant.  That was a blatant disgrace!

In the Jap occupation era, a governor general once criticized Taiwanese are voracious for money, afraid of death, and eager for being an official.  You may say it is a sweeping generalization, it is not.  My elder brother once told me that some of his colleagues went back to their hometown to tell their ancestors that they were promoted to "簡任".  A division director of the company I used to be with loved to ask some unmarried or divorced female subordinates to accompany him to feasts.  (Not paid by him, certainly.)  Once, that ugly and intoxicated guy even tried to unbutton the shirt of a female colleague at a karaoke with other colleagues in presence.  What the hell!

The three characteristics of that Jap governor general commented on Taiwanese are closely interrelated among one another.  The influence paddling, you know what I mean!
