These days the news of three broken antiques in National Palace Museum became a hot public spotlight.  KMT accused Cai administration of trying to cover the things up, and DPP defended itself by lame excuses as usual.  Some Taidu advocates even shouted that Taiwan should return those antiques to Peking Palace, and no KMT politicians dared object this suggestion openly.

Mr. Shen Fuxiong, a former DPP "legislator", indicated that National Palace Museum at Taiwan, as well as the islets outside Fujian Province, are the political, or a symbolic link between Taiwan and mainland.  If Taiwan severs the link, Shen hints, China Mainland would take any move against Taiwan when she deems fit without much scruple.  He is right.

I remember I have told you this before.  When in senior year of college, a classmate asked the professor of Modern History of West what Taiwan’s future will be.  The professor, after hesitating a second or two, replied to the question that if National Palace Museum is here in our hands, Taiwan will be safe.

PS Department of History, NTU, has three graduate schools of its own, and Chinese Art History is one of them.  Several chief curators of National Palace Museum had been the professors teaching at that school, and years later a couple of their students became the successors in that position.  But the incumbent Wu is not the one from Chinese Art History.
