Tender rippling lights and autumn moonbeans are pefectly harmonized

潭面无风镜未磨。

on the windless surface of the lake which is like a bronze mirror unpolished.

遥望洞庭山水翠，

Yonder Lake Dongting nestles snugly against the verdant mountain,

白银盘里一青螺。

just as a tiny green spiral shell lying on a silver plate.

PS  Now the devastating flood is inundating southern areas of China Mainland.  Dongting and another big lake Poyang are now also confronting the problem in adjusting the overflow of water.  Hang on Lakes, hang on China!
