上網故障排除—-DIY

Late last evening all of our internet devices: desk computers, Ipads, and mobile phones, were disconnected.  So I decided to get on bed earlier than usual and to contact internet provider this morning for help.

But this morning I found all devices were connected EXCEPT my desk computer.  Obviously, it is not the problem from the provider; instead, it is the connecting problem of my computer itself.  You know, my son assembled the computer for me earlier this year, so every time when I got a problem, any problem, I would call him for help.  But he is living in other state and he has to work on weekdays, so "distant water will not put out a fire close at hand", what could I do then?

Well, DIY would be the last resort to me.  But I am totally ignorant about IT; even in Taiwan I could not solve any problem myself with instructions written in Chinese.  What could I do now with so many specific terms and abbreviations in English?  Patiently, I followed the instruction of troubleshooting given by Microsoft, step by step, and I did it, finally!

I cannot wait to tell you guys how proudly I felt for myself.  Give me a high five!

Window 10 Only

It is true that "restart" your computer can fix a few problems in Window 10 but not in Window's previous versions. "restart" means that one has to hit "restart" in the "Start" manual instead of turning off the PC and turning it back on.

I think that it is funny though.

Absolutely. But sometimes "RESTART" still works.

I am giving you my high five.

Out of my curiosity, what were the problem and the cause of the problem anyway?

Thanks! It was some connection problem. When I logged on front page, I was told "you are not connecting to...". Now I can not remember the steps that had led me to log on again; I did not jot them down. But now I have found there is an icon, "internet access", at the right bottom (facing users). Try to click it in to restart your computer in case you confront the similar problem.
