It was past 9:00 AM, and the Post Office counter was still closed, how annoying!  So, I decided to walk across the street to the Auto shop to make a maintenance service appointment for my car.   I could feel the heat already at that hour of morning for just the short walk crossing the street to the shop.  According to the TV News, today would be the hottest day of this year so far.  When I heard this on TV, I changed my outfit and put on a very airy, soft, feminine style summer top and a pair of slim style Carpi pants.

When I walked into the shop, Gus was sitting on his high bar stool as usual.  I saw his eyes light up when he greeted me.  A customer was talking to the receptionist, so I waited and chatted with Gus.   He was flattering me with a smile of appreciation in his eyes, and enjoyed the view of me in front of him.  My god! The old man was checking me out!

Gus is a tall and strong built man with a soft spoken manner.  He doesn’t look like he is over 90 years old.  He had told me about his age once before when he drove me home after I dropped off my car for repair.   He comes to the shop every morning just to be helpful, driving customers home, or pick them up if needed, and in general talking to the people.  I am not sure of his relationship with the owner, but he is there every time I go into the shop.  We have become friendly acquaintances during the drives home over the years.

His appreciative smile made me feel like I was the most beautiful woman.  My smile became brighter, my steps became lighter.  OH! What a privilege to have such an appreciative smile toward me!  To have someone make me feel, I am beautiful, not sensual.

I walked out of the shop with such a light heart that I totally forgot how much I hate the heat and sun.  I looked at the reflection in the Post office glass door, and saw that I did have a nice package today – a beautiful hat, big sunglasses, a nice high heel sandals, and showing off a pair of nice legs even though they are short ones!  Such vanity!  But, it was a wonderful feeling!  An old gentleman had checked me out, what else I could ask for on a hot summer morning…….
