 三四年前介紹過描述徐志摩一生的電視劇，人間四月天，的主題曲與片尾曲。 因爲當時的時空環境，這戯讓我留下十分深刻的印象，我覺得劇本尤其佳！據説編劇王蕙玲參考了很多資料，其中張幼儀的部分，主要根據這本《小腳與西服》。而整部戯就是從張幼儀的立場來鋪陳故事。記得電視一開始就是老年張幼儀坐上火車，開始她的回憶：鏡頭帶入年輕的徐志摩與張幼儀，故事就此展開；之後再加入了林徽音，陸小曼的部分。 《小腳與西服》是張幼儀的姪孫女，張邦梅，在得知家裏有這麽一位長輩之後，  特別花了五年的時間與姑婆對談，然後由論文再整理爲書，於2002年出版。書名：《Bound Feet & Western Dress》。其實張邦梅寫（出版）這本書的動機之一是在於探索自己的根源，如同其他美籍華人的尋根之作。Yu-i and Pang-Mei, New York City, Christmas 1986. 這本《小腳與西服》可以說是張幼儀的回憶錄。她的一生實在是受徐志摩影響很大，也難怪作爲記錄者的張邦梅，主人翁張幼儀，對徐志摩都極不友善。若説是一面之詞，當然未嘗不可。可惜徐志摩去得太早，否則可以聼聼他的説法。 我一直想看這本書，今天終於如願，看到了《Bound Feet & Western Dress》的中文譯本——《小腳與西服》。 本來這部電視是不夠“老“的，可因之前已貼過一篇相關文章，如今又談一次，故亦算為“重彈老調“——註 “你總是問我，我愛不愛徐志摩。你曉得，我沒辦法回答這問題。我對這問題很迷惑，因爲每個人總是告訴我，我為徐志摩做了這麽多事，我一定是愛他的。可是，我沒辦法說什麽叫愛，我這輩子沒跟什麽人說我愛你。如果照顧徐志摩和他家人叫做愛的話，那我大概愛他吧。在他一生當中遇到的幾個女人裏面，説不定我最愛他。“——張幼儀，小腳與西服 《Bound Feet and Western Dress》 is a memoir written by Pang-Mei Natasha Chang, a Chinese American, about herself and her great aunt Chang Yu-i,  a woman who lived in 1900s Shanghai, China. It chronicles Yu-i’s life spent straddling the traditions of Old China with the innovative life of new China.(坐著的左邊第三位為張幼儀） While tracing the steps of Yu-i’s transition to the new China, the memoir chronicles China’s cultural conversion to Communism. Richard Bernstein said of the memoir, “Ms. Chang, in striving to subdue her own adolescent embarrassment at being different, trying to understand her past, has helped us all to recover a rare, precious, painful moment in the great panoply of human predicaments.” The memoir is a frame tale, or a story within a story. Natasha narrates some parts and Yu-i narrates the majority. In the Prologue, Natasha explains how she came to tell the story of .....Pang-Mei knows this route well, and she uses it to bring us deep into Yu-i's story and her own, offering a web of details spun with Chinese words that are loaded with meaning. The list below, the things defined in Bound Feet & Western Dress--a dumpling, wisdom, a pen stroke, integrity--are embedded in Yu-i's life.
