Airchat

Sure, here’s the revised version with the grammar corrected and the simplified Chinese converted to traditional Chinese:
Hello, friends, and welcome to Studio Classroom! We’re so glad you’ve joined us for our program today.
My name is Ann Marie,
and my name is John. Friends, today is a great day to learn something new!
It certainly is, so let’s do that together.
We have a very interesting lesson for you today, friends, about a new social media app.
But before we talk about that, let’s talk about some social media apps from the past that we might remember.
Alright, do you remember one called MySpace?
I do. I personally never had a MySpace. Did you?
I didn’t. It was right before Facebook really took off. My first social media was Facebook.
Maybe it was the same for some of you of a similar generation.
But social media... I feel like there is a new app every year.
Definitely. But every month, there’s a new app.
Yeah, my first social media that I used was Facebook.
I used it a lot in college. I don’t use Facebook anymore, but I do remember growing up that a lot of my friends had AIM,
where you could chat with other people in real time, and that was kind of a new idea
because not everyone had cell phones back then, so texting really wasn’t a thing yet.
So being able to chat live with your friends on the computer was pretty exciting.
That’s right! And you know, since moving to Asia, there are also many different apps that people use.
Apps are such a big market. Definitely.
Alright, well, what’s the app we are talking about today, friends?
Airchat! Have you heard of this app?
Don’t worry if you haven’t. We’re going to learn all about it today, starting with our first reading.
Airchat: Is this the next big thing, or is it all just talk?
Imagine a social media app where text takes a back seat and voice takes center stage.
That’s the experience Airchat promises, and this new take on social media is shaking things up in the tech world.
Hello everyone, welcome to Language Lab!
I’m Jack.
首先來看片語 someone’s take on something 意思是某人對某件事的意見或看法
例如:The lawyer’s take on her new case was that it was going to be easy to prove her client was innocent.
這位律師對她的新案件看法是,要證明她的當事人是無辜的,這很容易。
如果是take on something意思是承擔責任或接受工作。
例如:Looking at her long to-do list, Sarah decided to take on one task at a time to avoid feeling discouraged.
Sarah 看著長長的代辦事項清單,決定一次處理一項任務,免得氣餒。
或是:Inspired by her grandmother’s spirit of adventure, Sophia took on the challenge of hiking through Europe.
受到祖母冒險精神的啟發,Sophia接受了徒步穿越歐洲的挑戰。
Here’s the question we’re trying to answer with this article, friends: Is this the next big thing, or is it all just talk?
There are two phrases we need to talk about before we start the rest of our lesson here.
Big thing—What does that mean?
The next big thing is something that may become successful in the near future.
It’s like a future trend, so everybody wants their product to be the next big thing, right?
But we don’t know the future exactly.
It is really hard to predict what the next big thing will be.
But we also see a phrase in this sentence as well, friends:
If something is all just talk, what does that mean?
This phrase means that it doesn’t matter much because people are just exaggerating about it.
You don’t really need to put much weight behind it because people aren’t really going to do anything about it—they’re just talking about it.
That’s right! You could say, “You know what? I knew a lot about basketball, and I said I was good, but it was all just talk. I didn’t know how to play!”
Okay, so let’s shift now to talking specifically about AirChat.
Imagine a social media app where text takes a back seat and voice takes center stage.
If something takes a back seat, what are we talking about there?
Well, this phrase means to take a less important role, to kind of get demoted.
I think it comes from driving in a car, right? There’s the front seat, and then there’s the back seat.
Exactly! Here’s an example of how you could use this in a sentence:
“Recently, I was sick, and so everything, including work, took a back seat to my recovery.”
Me recovering was the most important thing, and everything else was secondary.
So here, what we’re talking about is text—or what you read—is taking a back seat. It’s not as important as voice, which is taking center stage.
Yes! Center stage is a useful expression. It comes from the theater. If someone is in the center of a stage, they’re getting the focus. So, voice takes center stage.
We also read, “That’s the experience Airchat promises.”
So this is Airchat’s idea, and this new take on social media is shaking things up in the tech world.
Shaking things up means causing large changes in something, such as an organization, and usually, this is intended to make improvements.
Okay, so shaking things up. There’s a phrase in the tech world, “Move fast and break things.”
Everyone’s always trying to change things. Will it work? We’ll find out.
That’s right! So this is a new take on social media. This is something that hasn’t really been done before, or has it?
I think we’re going to talk about that later on in this article, friends.
Alright, let’s continue learning right now with our next reading.
Airchat
Airchat is an audio-focused social media platform.
Instead of typing posts, users hold the record button on the app and record voice messages.
The app then transcribes these messages into text so that they can be both heard and read.
It’s a mix between a podcast and an X (formerly Twitter) feed.
接下來看形容詞Audio,意思是聲音的、錄音的或音頻的。
譬如:The audio quality of the movie was very successful because of the clear sound effects that brought the action to life.
這部電影的音質非常成功,因為清晰的音效讓動作栩栩如生。
或是:The library had a large collection of not only books, but also audio recordings that included historical speeches and radio programs.
這間圖書館不僅有大量的書籍,還有歷史演講和廣播節目等音頻資料。
再看一句:The scientist conducted audio experiments analyzing how different sounds affected the behavior of animals.
這位科學家進行了音頻實驗,分析不同的聲音如何影響動物的行為。
Alright, thank you so much, Jack! Friends, let’s continue to learn here about Airchat.
Airchat is an audio-focused social media platform. Now, let’s review what this word platform means real quick.
Friends, a platform is just a website or an app where some type of interaction is taking place online.
That’s right! So on this platform, we read together, “Instead of typing posts, users hold the record button on the app and record voice messages.”
Really interesting!
So the normal way is you make a post. A post is a piece of writing, a photo, or some kind of content that is published online. You post it up online, and this is pretty consistent across social media apps.
You can post on Facebook, you can post on Instagram—sometimes people’s posts are only photos of their grandkids, or sometimes their posts are always political.
But the word post just means that it’s some type of content.
Okay, so this is very interesting, though. Instead of typing your post or putting up a photo, you are recording voice messages. The app then transcribes these messages into text so that they can be both heard and read.
Now, if you’re transcribing something, it means that you’re putting it into printed or written form.
That’s right! You could say, “I really like to transcribe my ideas before I forget them. I like to write them down.”
So the app will transcribe it for you, and people can hear it and read it, which is kind of fun!
How is this described in our article?
It’s a mix between a podcast and an X feed.
So X is formerly Twitter, of course.
Now we also see another word here that’s specific to social media: the word feed.
Okay, we see the word feed, and this refers to the way new content is shown. I often think of scrolling through a feed and seeing new posts or new videos or new pictures.
That’s right! And feed also often goes with the word algorithm.
An algorithm is just the way the computer knows what kind of content to give to you based on your preferences and the things that you’ve liked or interacted with in the past.
So for example, my Instagram feed is mostly full of pictures of food and places to visit because that’s the kind of content that I consume on Instagram.
I often look at pictures of food or travel, so my feed is full of food and travel photos.
Yeah, I have a lot of sports on my feed. It kind of makes me think, like, “Oh no, this computer is feeding me content!”
But one of the things that is fed here is a podcast, right?
You should know this word: the definition for a podcast is a digital file made available on the internet, available for download, typically as a series, where people can subscribe and automatically receive it.
What that means is a regular show that people online put on. It almost always has audio, but you can sometimes watch it.
That’s right!
Alright, friends, we’re not done talking about Airchat, so don’t go anywhere. But right now, it is time for us to go to today’s InfoCloud.
Hello everyone,
Welcome back to InfoCloud!
When I was a student, I was in love with playing team sports.
There was no way for anyone to win on their own.
We all needed each other. Team sports are a great way to learn about working together.
You’re always reminded that there’s strength in numbers.
Exactly! We can use that phrase in a couple of different ways.
The first is to say that working together with others is better than just working by yourself.
You might think about all the chores you need to finish around the house. Most of the time, they will be done much faster if other people join you.
Each person can do a different task, and you’ll be done before you know it.
There is strength in numbers.
The numbers here refer to the larger number of people working.
How else can we use this phrase, Garrett?
Well, most of the time, we use it in contrast to one big or powerful thing.
Think about a boxing match.
If you’re going up against one really big guy, you’re probably going to lose.
Oh, but if other people are competing against him with you, you might have a better chance. There’s strength in numbers, right?
Sometimes you can’t do something all by yourself. You need the help of others.
There’s strength in numbers.

strength in numbers 人多好辦事
我們都知道團隊合作的重要性,今天要跟大家介紹的用語是strength in numbers
字面上是“數字有力量”,
strength in numbers 通常是形容人多好辦事,
與其一個人單打獨鬥,不如找一群人共同打拼,互相幫助。
例如:
"My friends are helping me move because there’s strength in numbers."
我的朋友們來幫我搬家,因為人多好辦事。
很多人共同做一件事情,也能夠建立美好的人際關係。
這就是今天的 InfoCloud。
下次雲端見!

Airchat
Many think that Airchat’s decision to ditch the text-first messaging model feels fresh. Hearing the natural tone of someone’s voice when they post feels more personal.
It could also reduce misunderstandings since you can hear the emotion in people’s voices. What’s more, the app offers an autoplay feature, allowing you to listen when you’re out and about.
Right now, Airchat is an invite-only app. On a practical level, this makes the app easier to manage because the user base is limited.
But it’s also a marketing technique that fuels interest by making the product feel special.
接著來看ditch這個動詞,意思是拋棄。
譬如:
"The successful businessman finally ditched the fast-paced life of the city and moved to a small town in the country."
這位成功的商人最終放棄了城市快節奏的生活,搬到了鄉下的一个小鎮。
或是:
"Bored with the movie, Charlie and his friends decided to ditch it and grab some pizza instead."
Charlie 和朋友們覺得這部電影很無聊,決定放棄去吃披薩。
ditch 如果當名詞是指溝渠。
譬如:
"To prevent flooding, the townspeople dug a deep ditch around the low-lying areas near the river."
為了防止水災,村民們在河邊低窪地帶挖了一條深溝。
最後來看fuel這個動詞,它是指給予能量或加上燃料。
譬如:
"Coffee fueled the study session, keeping the students awake as they studied for the challenging exam."
咖啡為自習課提供了能量,讓學生們在準備充滿挑戰的考試時保持清醒。
或是:
"The campfire burned brightly, fueled by dry weeds and tree branches."
營火在乾燥的雜草和樹枝的助燃下燒得很旺。
fuel 如果當名詞則指燃料。
譬如:
"The rising cost of fuel is a major concern for many countries, forcing them to look for other sources of energy."
燃料成本上漲是許多國家的主要憂慮,迫使他們尋找其他能源。
How are people responding to Airchat? We read here,
"Many think that Airchat’s decision to ditch the text-first messaging model feels fresh."
Okay, so the idea here is that if something feels fresh, it feels new; it feels like no one has done this before.
So there are a lot of people who see Airchat, and they think, "Oh, this is something new! This is something different."
Yeah, that word fresh, we’ll see that in fashion sometimes. People say, "Oh, you’re looking fresh," meaning you look stylish, clean, and good.
So, this also feels fresh.
That’s a good way to describe it.
And why do we read, "Hearing the natural tone of someone’s voice when they post feels more personal"?
And it can also have another benefit that we read about, right?
That’s right! We read here, "It could also reduce misunderstandings since you can hear the emotion in people’s voices."
Yeah, John, has this ever happened to you before? You get a text from someone, and you think everything’s fine, and you’re texting back and forth.
But then when you see them in person next, there’s a little bit of distance there.
It’s happened to me where I realized, "Oh, I think I really misinterpreted that text conversation."
Well, I especially feel scared when I get a one-word text, you know?
It’s so scary, yeah!
You share an idea on a text, and someone says "Great" and doesn’t put an exclamation mark, they don’t put a period.
So you’re like, "Great, what does that mean?"
Okay, but what if somebody puts "Okay" with a period after it? Ooh, the period after kind of means like... you know, like "final."
Yeah, they’re not excited to talk—who knows?
But there’s a thing we do with texts called reading too much into it, and it means your fear is adding another idea on top of what you’re reading.
Exactly! It’s really hard to have misunderstandings over text because you don’t know what the person meant when they texted that.
Maybe they didn’t mean anything strange at all. In fact, a lot of times, it’s just because of someone’s generation that they text in a different way—or maybe even their culture as well.
But this is what Airchat’s purpose is—we’re trying to get rid of those misunderstandings because you can hear people’s voices.
What’s more, the app offers an autoplay feature.
Let’s talk about that phrase: what’s more.
Okay, this is an idiom, and you use it to add something interesting to what you’ve already said.
So you could say, "I really thought the restaurant was great, and what’s more, there’s a place for my kids to play."
Here’s another example:
"The cake was awesome, and what’s more, she made it herself."
But we also see another word here in this sentence, friends, and that is the word autoplay.
So autoplay can be used in a lot of different ways, or with a lot of different things.
There’s an autoplay function, meaning a video or an audio file can play automatically by itself. You don’t have to push a button or click something to make that video play.
Yeah, sometimes I see this word autoplay with a list of songs. You put them on autoplay, and they just automatically go ahead and play the next song.
So this app has some interesting features, but right now, Airchat is an invite-only app.
What’s an invite-only app?
It means it’s open only to people who have been asked to be a part of it.
Invite-only. I see!
So maybe people who are famous or have followers will see if we get an invite.
But on a practical level, this makes the app easier to manage because the user base is limited.
Okay, practical means the way things are actually used and very functional.
That’s right!
Here’s an example of how you could use practical in a sentence:
"Those shoes are cute, but they’re not very practical."
I say this a lot about shoes that look uncomfortable or about high heels. They might be nice shoes, but in everyday life, they’re not very functional.
But we read here the user base is limited. However, it’s also a marketing technique that fuels interest by making the product feel special.
Oh, I see! So it’s creating demand.
People want to be on the app. What do you think?
We’ll have to find out.
Yeah, that’s right, friends! Alright,
But before we do that, let’s do something fun!
It’s time for today’s Fun Fact!
Hello Fact Friends, I’m Detective Ernest Finder, and I have a fun fact for you today.
Did you know that in 2023, scientists in Africa found that animals are scared of human voices?
Huh, that’s right!
It turns out that animals are more afraid of human voices than lion noises.
Wow, so you are pretty scary, and that is today’s fun fact!
Alright, friends, we’ve got a great Talk About It question for you today.
With so many social media apps already available, do you think we need more? Why or why not?
Well, every time I hear the word "need," I think no, we don’t need it—we need food, clothes, and to be content.
But a better social media app is a great idea, and I’m glad people are working hard on it.
I agree with you.
The word "need" is very strong, but as somebody who has left social media apps in the past when they start to be used for purposes other than just social interaction, I would say yes.
I actually do like it when there’s something new available.
For example, I got off Facebook because it got too political.
I don’t want to see political things on social media.
I was able to leave that and go to something else, so I do think it’s nice to have options.
It is nice to have options that work for you.
Well, friends, we want to talk about that with you. Let us know what you think.
We’ll see you next time, right here on Studio Classroom!

修正英文文法,保留中文部分,同時將簡體中文修改為繁體中文
Here’s the corrected version of your text with proper English grammar and the simplified Chinese converted to traditional Chinese:
Hello friends and welcome to Studio Classroom! We are so glad youve joined us for our lesson today.
My name is Ann Marie,
and my name is John. Friends, today is a great day to learn something new, so let’s do that together!
We are talking all about a brand-new social media app, Airchat.
What did we learn yesterday?
Well, we’re learning that this is an app that translates your voice into text, but it keeps your voice as well, so that your friends can listen to how you say something and read your messages quickly.
But we also learned that not everybody can just go and get this app right now.
That’s right. Only people who have been asked to be a part of it can join—its invite-only.
We’re going to learn more about Airchat in today’s lesson. Let’s get started with our first reading.
Airchat
Some tech writers have noted similarities between Clubhouse, an app popular in 2020, and Airchat. Both apps are audio-focused, started as invite-only, and are mostly popular in the tech community. But there’s a key difference: Clubhouse was about live chat rooms and discussions, like a collection of online conferences.
Airchat users can post a message, and the recipient can respond when it’s convenient. There’s no time-sensitive pressure to catch a conversation from the beginning.
Hello everyone, welcome to Language Lab!
I’m Jack. 我們先來看 "similarity" 這個名詞,意思是相似或相似之處。
譬如:"The two paintings shared a similarity in the use of bold colors and design, suggesting the artists might have gotten their inspiration from the same place."
這兩幅畫在大膽用色和設計上有相似之處,意味著這些藝術家可能從同一個地方得到靈感。
或是:"The policewoman was looking for any similarity between the crime scenes, hoping to find a pattern that would help them find a criminal."
這位女警正在尋找犯罪現場之間的任何相似之處,希望能找到一個模式來幫助她們找到罪犯。
再來看一句:"The teacher encouraged her students to find similarities between different works of literature."
這位老師鼓勵學生們尋找不同文學作品之間的相似之處。
Is Airchat the first of its kind? Not really.
We had another app a few years ago, didn’t we, friends? Clubhouse.
Some tech writers have noted similarities between Clubhouse, an app popular in 2020, and Airchat. OK, so we learned about that word "similarities" in today’s Language Lab.
There are things that are the same between these two apps.
And what are a few of those things, John?
Well, we read that both apps are audio-focused, so they are focused on listening and the voice. They started as invite-only and are mostly popular in the tech community.
And this makes sense, right? Not every app has to be the next big giant social media. It’s OK to have a small community.
But we read there’s a key difference. That’s right, we’re talking about Clubhouse here, this app that was popular during the pandemic.
Clubhouse was about live chat rooms and discussions, like a collection of online conferences.
And I think there are some key points here. Let’s define what a clubhouse is first. Of course, it’s the name of this app, but a clubhouse in general is a building where members of a club meet, and they often have social events.
That’s right! You can often have a club, and a club meets in a clubhouse, right? Normally, by the way, at places like golf courses, there’s a place called a clubhouse, right?
So members of whatever club, like a golf course, can meet there. Sometimes clubhouses have parties or events or even host weddings.
So that name implies that there’s a group you’re a member of.
That’s right. But we also see this word "conferences" here at the end of this sentence. Now, what is a conference?
Exactly. OK, a conference is a little different from a club. A conference is a meeting or event where groups come together for a shared purpose. Often, there are speakers at conferences, right?
And that’s kind of where the idea of this app, Clubhouse, comes in, because the idea of Clubhouse was that you could listen to speeches, you could listen to people talk about different topics.
And this was popular during the pandemic because when a lot of people weren’t going outside, they had lots of time on their hands. They could sit there and listen to people who weren’t necessarily experts talk about whatever they wanted to talk about.
I just don’t think it’s as convenient nowadays, so that’s where Airchat comes in.
Airchat users can post a message, and the recipient can respond when it’s convenient. That’s the key difference here.
So, the recipient is a person or the thing that is awarded or who gets something.
That’s right. You can get a lot of things. I could say, "I was the recipient of such a kind letter from my grandma."
That’s right. OK, so reading on here—there’s no time-sensitive pressure to catch a conversation from the beginning, like in Clubhouse. In Clubhouse, you needed to be on time when that person started talking so that you could hear everything they were going to say.
And that’s where this phrase "to catch" comes in. If you catch something, it means you’re in time for something. You could catch a movie or you could catch a train.
That’s right! You could catch a cold as well. Getting a hold of something—normally, we think of catching as physically catching a ball, but you can catch other things.
There’s one other phrase that was in there: "time-sensitive." That you should know. Time-sensitive means something that has to be used or done by a particular time, or something that’s only useful for a temporary time.
Sometimes there might be some information or an email that’s time-sensitive.
Yeah, if you get a time-sensitive email, it often means that you need to respond right away or by a certain time, or else that email just becomes obsolete.
But what do you think, John? Was Clubhouse something that you used at all? Do you think that even if you didn’t use Clubhouse, Airchat would be something that you would use?
You know what? Maybe, though honestly, during the pandemic, I had just gotten married, we were having kids, so social media for me has become less a time to go and study and learn, and more just an entertainment time.
So I’ll use something like YouTube. And of course, we do a lot of posting on YouTube, so I feel like that’s the app that I’m on the most.
That’s a really good point. I feel like different people have different apps that they prefer, depending on their personality or their needs or the way they consume content.
So it’s really just important to find what works for you and suits your purposes. Maybe it’s Airchat. We’re going to talk more about that right now in our next reading.
Airchat
In the future, we may see additional features that make Airchat stand out even more.
Before it adds new features, some writers say that Airchat needs to improve its content moderation system. The developers expect users to check the content themselves and remove offending posts using in-app tools. In extreme cases, Airchat employees may remove a user from the platform. But this system may not be sufficient to keep a large user base under control.
接下來看動詞 "offend"。意思是冒犯或得罪。
譬如:"Violet’s honesty occasionally offended others who thought a more tactful approach would be better."
Violet 有時候會得罪別人,他們認為用更委婉的方式會更好。
"Offend" 的現在分詞 "offending" 也可以當形容詞用,意思是讓人生氣的。
例如:"The politician apologized for his offending remarks about a group of people that didn’t support him."
這位政治家為他對一群不支持他的人所說的冒犯性言論道歉。
另一個相關的形容詞是 "offensive"。意思是攻擊性的。
譬如:"The online comments about the article were very offensive and personal."
網路上關於這篇文章的評論非常冒犯,且具有人身攻擊。
再來看 "sufficient" 這個形容詞,意思是足夠的。
例如:"The library’s online resources provided sufficient information for Adoline’s research paper."
圖書館的線上資源為 Adoline 的研究論文提供了充足的資訊。
或是:"Austin’s sufficient knowledge of French allowed him to get around Paris and talk to locals."
Austin 掌握了足夠的法語知識,使他能夠在巴黎四處遊覽並與當地人交談。
或者:"The campers packed a sufficient amount of food to make sure they wouldn’t run out."
露營者準備了足夠的食物,以確保他們不會斷糧。
OK, so Airchat may not stay the same in the future. We read here: "In the future, we may see additional features that make Airchat stand out even more."
We’ve talked about this word here, "to stand out," before. Friends, let’s review what it means right now.
"To stand out" means something is noticeably different from the other things around it. Normally, this is a good thing. It could be a bad thing if you said, "Well, that one student really stands out."
Sometimes we use the opposite of that—someone is outstanding, and "outstanding" always means good. But "stand out" could also be a bad thing.
For example, a student could stand out for their poor behavior or something like that.
We could also use this about someone’s physical appearance as well.
Her bright clothes really make her stand out from the crowd.
Okay, but back to Airchat. Before it adds new features, some writers say that Airchat needs to improve its content moderation system. This is always the discussion that’s happening when there’s a new app: How will the creators of the app handle content moderation?
What is content moderation?
Well, it’s the process of screening and checking what people put online. This can be anywhere from making sure that people aren’t posting harmful things, or an app might have a specific political lean, and they don’t want the app to say anything or people to share their opinion on the app that goes against what they believe.
Content moderation is a very hot topic right now.
It really is. Because social media is different from traditional news, you have to remember that these companies are businesses, right? So they don’t want to hurt their users.
And I think content moderation is actually really important, especially when you have kids on your app, right? And they’re exposed to a lot of different adults that might not necessarily have good opinions.
This is a really good point. Because most things aren’t appropriate for children, friends. Especially on social media. If you’re a parent or a grandparent, please be careful and make sure that you are doing the content moderation for your children or your grandchildren.
Make sure that you’re not exposing them to things that they shouldn’t be exposed to, especially at their age.
Well, we have another word in this sentence, friends, and that is the word system. Can you give us the definition of how "system" is being used in this sentence, John?
Yeah, a system here is a way that things are organized, especially in a company. It refers to how things are done. So, a content moderation system would typically be a group of people that are watching the posts. They’re doing something called flagging posts.
Flagging a post means you’re saying, "Hey, look out!" Normally, it’s really important on these social media sites to have content moderators.
But if apps get really big, that can be very hard for companies, and we’ve seen that already in recent history.
Definitely. So, apps really need to have a certain system in place to make sure that content moderation gets done well.
Here’s another way to use that word "system" in a sentence, friends:
"There are five people in my household, so we have a special system that we use to get laundry done. When everyone follows that system, we get the laundry under control a lot easier."
Alright, but reading on here:
"The developers expect users to check the content themselves and remove offending posts using in-app tools."
So this goes back to what John was just saying about flagging posts. That’s right!
So, in-app literally means something that’s in the app. There are features that you can use. Right?
That’s right. It’s an activity or a feature that takes place inside a mobile app. So usually, it’s the content moderators who would flag something, but here the creators of Airchat are just hoping that this happens by the users.
And this is really important to do on your own social media, right? Make sure that you don’t just let things come through your feed that are bad and will just hurt you.
So make sure that you flag things that you don’t want to see. It’ll help the algorithm keep you safe. Just be careful what you look at, right? It goes into your brain, which is so valuable.
Finally, we read:
"In extreme cases, Airchat employees may remove a user from the platform."
That makes sense, right? Someone gets kicked off the platform.
We use that phrase "kicked off" to mean removed.
Exactly. And there’s another way to do this, too, of course, friends, because you usually aren’t responsible for kicking someone off a social media platform. But to protect yourself, you might need to block someone off your account.
If you block someone on social media, it means that you don’t allow them to see your content or send you messages.
This is also very important for you to do, friends, if there are accounts or people there who are giving you harmful content or sending you messages that are not okay.
Alright, but we’re talking about this system here in Airchat. This system may not be sufficient to keep a large user base under control. They’re going to need a better system.
We’ll finish our article here in just a moment, friends, right after today’s Info Cloud.
Hello friends, welcome to Info Cloud!
Hey Garrett!
I watched the old movie The Three Musketeers. There was one slogan that really caught my eye: "All for one and one for all!"
That’s one of my favorite slogans as well! There is some deep meaning in that expression.
Yes, "All for one and one for all" means everyone should help the group that they belong to, and the group should help each of those individuals as well.
You know, it’s very difficult to live in this world all by yourself. We need to help each other instead of everyone just thinking about themselves.
There is some wisdom in this expression. If it’s all for one, then everyone is just serving one person. That’s not a great situation, right?
And if it is just one for all, then one person is trying to meet the needs of everyone else—they might get burned out.
So the expression "all for one and one for all" strives for a balance between the benefits for the individual and the group.
Well friends, when you learn English, you will be able to help others who want to learn, and at the same time, benefit yourself.

All for one and one for all. 人人為我,我為人人
今天跟大家分享一個相當特別的口號,那就是 "All for one and one for all"。意思就是人人為我,我為人人。
"All for one and one for all" 這個口號曾經在 19 世紀法國大文豪 Alexander Dumas 的文學作品《三劍客》中出現過。
"All for one and one for all" 所倡導的理念是群體可以維護個人的利益,個人也可以為團體付出。這樣的理念為群體和個人的利益之間呈現了一種相輔相成的平衡。
這就是今天的 Info Cloud,我們下次雲端見!

Airchat
So will Airchat blow up or quietly fizzle out? That remains to be seen.
But one thing’s for sure, it’s an exciting new voice in the world of online communication.
最後來看 blow up 這個片語。動詞字面上的意思是爆炸
譬如:
"The old coffee pot blew up and sent hot coffee flying all over the kitchen."
舊咖啡壺爆炸,把熱咖啡溅到整個廚房。
"Blow up" 也有突然開始或是誇大的意思。
譬如:
"Gas prices have been blowing up recently, making it expensive to fill up one’s car."
最近油價飆漲,使得加滿汽油的費用很高。
"Or the media tends to blow up minor disagreements between the two candidates."
媒體往往會誇大報導兩位候選人之間的小分歧。
Here’s another question for us to answer, friends. Will Airchat blow up or quietly fizzle out?
You just learned about that phrase "blow up" in the language lab, and it’s kind of the opposite. This phrase "fizzle out" isn’t it?
Yeah. If something is on fire and the fire goes out, there’s a little bit of smoke and maybe a little sound, like we call that a fizzle. Fizzle out here means to gradually end, so it just ends and people don’t use the app much anymore. It fizzles out.
Other things can fizzle out too as well, friends. Here’s an example:
"When he moved away, their relationship eventually fizzled out."
它結束了,可能是慢慢結束的,持續了一段時間。
What we read here:
"That remains to be seen".
If something remains to be seen, it means that something is not yet certain. We’re not sure if it’s going to happen.
Yeah, it still remains to be seen if the project will work.
"Remains to be seen" is useful.
And this next expression we read:
"But one thing’s for sure, it’s an exciting new voice in the world of online communication."
"One thing’s for sure" means that at least this thing that’s mentioned is pretty certain.
So you could say, "One thing’s for sure, I love pizza."
That’s right, that is one thing that’s for sure.
This means that it’s something that is definitely true, no questions asked.
It’s an exciting new voice—if something is a new voice, it’s the idea that this is a new idea, something we haven’t heard before, right?
That’s right! Especially an opinion or somebody’s attitude that’s publicly expressed.
Well, it’s fun that there is a new voice, and you know what else is fun?
Emory, is it today’s fun fact?
Today’s Fun Fact
Ah, hello fact friends!
I’m Detective Ernest Finder, and I have a fun fact for you today. Did you know that killer whales (orcas) can speak English?
Sometimes! This is the story: In 2018, a killer whale named Wiki learned to say "hello," "Amy one," "two," and "bye-bye."
That’s pretty incredible!
I know people who can’t say that much, they’re mostly babies.
But that is today’s fun language fact. Bye-bye!
Well friends, it’s the end of our lesson,
Which means it’s time for our Talk About It question.
Here it is:
If you had an Airchat account, what would you post about?
What do you think, John?
I don’t know, maybe songs about cats, and I would call it my "Heir Cat" account.
I guess you could sing! It is a voice recording system. You could sing on this app. Interesting.
What would you post?
Well, I think maybe I would post English teaching tips on Airchat. That’s basically what I do for work, so it would be an easy use for that app.
What do you think, friends? What would you use Airchat for if you were able to get an account?
It is invite-only. Talk about that in English, and we will see you next time right here on Studio Classroom!
