It
is a cliche to attack two participants in politics by saying, "No one is
perfect. Every one is supposed to be greedy. Or Everyone has both merits and shortcomings."

To be really
fair is to compare the two players in politics in terms of
the goals they have claimed to accomplish by making and carrying out policies. Corrupt Ah-Bien Chen has fallen far behind his
goals of boosting economy in Taiwan.
At least in light of economic development, Chen is a big loser as compared with

八年來經濟成長率

2001年以來，相較於亞洲主要國家，台灣經濟相對疲弱，2001至2007年平均失業率4.45%，高於同期間3.84%的平均經濟成長率。

台灣2001至2007年平均經濟成長率較1993至1999年衰退2.5個百分點，經濟衰退率居亞洲各國第二，而且2001至2007年平均經濟成長率
居亞洲四小龍及亞洲開發中國家之末。經濟成長率表現不佳差原因分析，若就1993至1999年平均值與2001至2007年平均值比較，民間消費由
6.76%降至2.37%，民間投資由10.76%減至3.26%，而政府投資更由5.50%反轉變為-5.46%。
