Waking up

She was a hard-working and well-known CPA  in the Chinese circle in Southern California.  All her friends admired and envied her annual income.

Before she knew it she had hit age thirty.

He was a young professor in a well-known Southern California college. To reach that position at age thirty-five was an outstanding achievement.

He loved to travel. She had been interested in him for a long time. But their busy working schedule had kept them apart. Every time she found an occasion to call him, he always said enthusiastically and  politely, "let's get together soon."

For the summer he was going to be vacationing in the northern lake district of Italy. She dropped all activities and booked herself a tour of northern Italy.

Now she had an excuse to call him asking all sort of questions about the beautiful part of Northern Italy. He answered enthusiastically and said he would like indeed to meet her at  Portofino

She asked her travel-agency friend to book a room of double occupancy in a fancy but private hotel, facing the harbor of Portofino.

She never had time to shop for dresses. But she selected a beautiful wardrobe of morning, afternoon and night wear, especially the night wear. She started to dream he and she taking a stroll along the harbor, having cozy dinner in the cozy room at the table facing the harbor, sipping good wine...and watch the sun go down and moon rise well into the night and next sunrise....

Portofino. What a beautiful and romantic town.

She took out her mobile and called her travel agency friend to cancel the rest of the trip and to purchase a return ticket home immediately.

A despertar
