那是人人羡慕到美國留學的時代，她從小就酷愛音樂，幸運地出了國後，在偶然機會碰到了愛歌劇如命的他，因爲他，她也迷上了歌劇。雖然她不得已念會計的獎學金很少, 讀那些她毫無興趣的會計書更痛苦，但現在她生命裏有了他跟歌劇，所以連吃飯的錢都拿去買票聽歌劇。

他，她，兩個窮留學生，一有機會，就約好去聽歌劇，各自出錢。她總幫他先墊錢買票，老早去排隊買便宜票，才能坐在歌劇院高高學生座的第一排正中。她在一邊看他聚精會神的看臺上演出，耳邊是那樣美麗的音樂，開始做起兩人將來窮苦但永遠生活在一起的夢。

突然，他說她不必幫他買票了，然後他出現在樓下貴的座位席上，旁邊坐的是一位穿著時尚跟他依肩的女孩子。。。。

仍是他們從前一起聽的歌劇，一樣美的歌聲，一樣凄慘的愛情，臺上男女主角（戲裝裏腰上捆著繩子）爲追求他們永遠的愛情携手在道具高樓上跳了下去。

她無知覺地從歌劇院最高層學生座第一排上站起來，躍身而下。

Chasing the Rainbow  

It was a time that everyone wanted to come to America to study. She had always loved music and was lucky to receive a tuition scholarship from a small American college and was able to go to a music performance in the big city nearby.

By chance she met a student who was an opera fanatic. After that, she fell in love with opera as well. Her scholarship to study accounting was small and accounting was a gruesome subject for her  to study. Now she met him,  she had opera in her life to spend every extra dollar on it.

She and he, two poor students went to opera whenever they could.  She would buy advance tickets for him so they could sit in the front row in the student section, high above the balcony.

When she saw him watching the opera with such concentration and listened to heavenly arias herself, she started to dream of a life with him, poor and full of music....

Suddenly he asked her not to get tickets for him anymore.

One day she looked down from high above, she saw a girl with long hair in an expensive-looking dress sitting with him shoulder against shoulder in the orchestra row.

It was the same heavenly music, the same love story, the lovers jumped down to their "death" hand in hand with invisible steel ropes attached to the back of their costumes.

It was so surreal.  She stood up from the front row of the highest section, without even knowing herself and jumped down.

Era una época en la que todos querían venir a Estados Unidos para estudiar. Ella siempre había amado la música y tuvo la suerte de recibir una beca de matrícula de un pequeño colegio americano y tenia la habilidad a escuchar actuaciones musicales en la gran ciudad cercana.

Por casualidad conoció a un estudiante fanático de la ópera. Después de eso, se enamoró de la ópera también. Su beca para estudiar contabilidad era pequeña y la contabilidad era un tema espantoso para estudiar. Ahora lo conocía, tenía ópera en su vida para gastar cada dólar extra en eso.

Ella y él, dos estudiantes pobres iban a la ópera siempre que podían. Compraría boletos anticipados para que pudieran sentarse en la primera fila de la sección estudiantil, encima del balcón.

Cuando lo vio viendo la ópera con tanta concentración y escuchando arias celestiales, comenzó a soñar una vida con él y la música ....pobre y llena de música ....

De repente le pidió  a ella que no le diera más boletos. Un día miró desde lo alto y vio a una niña con el pelo largo y el vestido de aspecto caro sentado con él hombro contra hombro en la fila de la orquesta.

Era la misma música celestial, la misma historia de amor, los amantes saltaron a su "muerte" mano a mano con invisibles cuerdas de acero unidas a la parte de atrás de sus trajes.

Era tan surrealista. Se levantó de la primera fila de la sección más alta, sin siquiera saber de sí misma y saltó.
