１９４９年出生於俄亥俄州的艾瑞克卡門（Eric Carmen）是美國著名創作歌手

１９６７年出道　先加入Cyrus Erie樂團

６０年代末期轉到流行搖滾團The Raspberries擔任主唱　出了幾首暢銷曲

１９７５年The Raspberries解散　卡門開始個人事業

隨即以〔All My Myself〕走紅　拿到美國亞軍　銷售百萬（英國＃１２）

進入８０年代後　卡門淡出歌壇　事業走緩

１９８７／１９８８年交接之際　卡門為〔熱舞十七／Dirty Dancing〕演唱插曲〔Hungry Eyes〕

登上美國流行榜得到＃４（副榜──成人抒情榜亞軍）

讓他的事業成功東山再起

１９８８年春天  艾瑞克打鐵趁熱, 推出下一首單曲［Make Me Lose Control／讓我失去控制］

此曲由他跟Dean Pitchford合寫　旋律討好

Jimmy Ienner製作成一首軟式搖滾　展現卡門那富有渲染力的唱腔 

［Make Me Lose Control］拿下美國流行榜得到＃３──這是卡門事業第二高主打, 僅次於〔All My Myself〕的亞軍

（其中銷售榜冠軍, Airplay榜＃４）

在副榜──成人抒情榜則拿下三週冠軍

國際方面：加拿大亞軍　澳大利亞＃８　南非＃１０　紐西蘭＃１８　英國＃９２

雖然連續兩首暢銷曲, 但卡門卻沒順勢推出全新錄音室專輯

而是發行精選輯［The Best of Eric Carmen］, 收錄［Make Me Lose Control］在內的事業熱門曲（精選輯在［Make Me Lose Control］出版數月前推出, 在此曲走紅後, 又再版將此曲收入）

之後艾瑞克再度淡出歌壇,直到１９９８年才在日本推出錄音室大碟［Winter Dreams］（延到２０００年在美國出版）
