is an intrauterine device, only treats symptoms but does not solve the problem (that is your growing fibroids). so are other medications, mostly hormonal related. i would not even consider.
i have to say if you are serious about treating the fibroids, you really need to talk to your OB-GYN and find out the one you are more comfortable with. Hysterectomy is the traditional way to do it. Then there is embolization, which is to snap some of the arteries to stop the blood flow to the fibroids. This basically can solve the problem, thus treats the symptoms as well. I read that there is this new one called MRI guided ultrasound surgery that they are doing now. Both embolization and U/S surgery can be done outpatient.
as for myself, i use heating pad all the time.
