For the sake of "sightseeing", Qingdao is the most attractive place we are longing to visit this time, because of its beauty that has been generally acknowledged, the beauty of tradition and of modernity, exotic and Chinese style, mingled in a harbor city that is embracing blue sea and backed by slightly undulating hills.

We came to that well-known villa district, or Eight Great Passes, for each of the lanes and alleies is named with different Chinese old passes.  The villas, built in wide variety of western patterns, must have been the residences of colonials or Chinese celebrities in the past, but now, I guess, they are owned by no one but the government.  It has become an exhibition of architecture and a park(because it is cover by various trees) for public recreation, outdoor filming of some movies or newly-wed couples, and tourists.  Thanks to New China; otherwise, we might not have the opportunity of roaming in this "private" residence area.

Certainly, we must visit the beautiful beach.  Drones of tourist were strolling along a wide breakwater which extends as far as over 400 meters into the sea, with a large, classic pavillion at its end.  On the other side of the long beach there is a square in which stands a huge, novel sculpture in memory of May Fourth Movement.  You know, in Treaty of Versailles after WWI resolved that Germany concede the "tenancy" of Qingdao and the privileges in Shandong to Japan, instead of returning them to another victorious nation: China; thus the humiliation incited a widespread national furore and the movement directly caused far-reaching consequences, including the founding of CCP in 1921.

No one can leave Qingdao without tasting its famous beer, and we are no exceptions.  (The brand continues using it old name Tsingtao Beer.)  The brewery and beer museum entertained each of us with a cup of original, a draft, and a small bag of delicious peanuts.  Because the original and the draft are stronger than the products sold, some of us felt a little bit intoxicated.  Interestingly, there is a simlulation room for tourists to appreciate how drunkness is.  So we were all like staggering drunkards to finish walking through the simulator.
