Dalian is an excellent harbor which wont be frozen during severe cold winter in Northeast, as well as a beautiful garden city, a gem on Liaodong Peninsula.  It is a pretty modern city without many historic interests left, especially those relics during long Japanese and Russian occupation.  (You know, mainly due to agreement with the allied forces in WWII, not until 1955 had China regained the whole administration on LuDa.)  I think Chinas Mainland is right; except those historic monuments that could stimulate peoples spirit of patriotism, e.g. 203 Hill, why need to reserve other remaining relics of colonial occupation for?

The garden city of Dalian is demonstrated in its numerous squares, exceeding 100 in the city.  There is one that impressed me most though we just passed it by: Olympic Square.  The tour guide pointed a statue of a sprinter, and asked us to whom the statue was erected.  No one knew, but I did.  The answer is Liu Chang-chun(劉長春).  Please refer to my previous writing "up to 51/100 from nothing: China’s Olympic Games in retrospective" at http://blog.udn.com/kkuo0810/7145867

In the evening, we boarded on a night liner which ferried us across Bohai Bay to Yantai, Shandong.  We all slept tight in the stable and relatively cozy cabins.  In ten years or less, youll have other option to travel with because by the time a corss-strait tunnel connecting two peninsulas will have been completed.
