Tokyo 2020 ended yesterday, so did the white-hot competition for Chasing gold medals between China and the US. Undeniably, the number of medals acquired in Olympics reflects the synthesis for a country from various aspects. Except China and Russia, the others in Big Ten are all highly developed countries in economy, particularly measured in GDP per capita. But Russia is a traditional military power, and China is a historical all-round power who is now regaining her status in the world. China should keep on maintaining the supremacy of her fortes like diving, table tennis, weightlifting, shooting, and so on, while also focusing on the other items like track and field, swimming, from which a lot more medals are produced. The future standing of China in Olympics must be a concomitant with her great revival. All Chinese athletes, from Mainland, HK, and Taiwan, you have acquitted yourselves pretty well this time, so see you again in Paris, 2024. |
