When Atlanta Braves hit that grand slam and took an early 4-0 lead just at the bottom of 1st inning last evening, I guessed everybody including myself would think Braves was going to win the world series the night in their home, for they already had a 3-1 advantage over Houston Astros.

For Houston fans, the only thing they could do was to pray and to believe like the words on the cardboard fans were waving when their favorite team was lagging: "I believe".  Without homers and many extra-base hits, Astros fully used other means to attack and come back from behind: singles, walks, stolen bases.  They laughed to the last by winning the game 9-5. 

Is " whales’ devouring" inferior to "silkworms’ nibbling"?  It all depends.  Well, it will be much better if two means could be used shrewdly and interchangeably.
