Stone Forest Scenic Park is a famous place of interest located not far away from city of Kunming.  The Karst rocks of grotesque shapes must have erected there for hundreds of thousand years, but only until 1933 when Long Yun(龍雲), a warload and then the "monarch" of Yunnan, initiated creating the vast place a park.  Now it has been enlisted as one of worlds natural heritages by UNESCO  (Not all warlords were bad guys; Mr. Long was the one with relatively good reputation.)

How did those gigantic rocks "grow" out of ground is a scientific question of geography.  But to most of the tourists the wonders of those rocks just amazed them, and every rock with unique shape just fullfilled their imagination on the resemblance to the objects and figures they had been familiar with in reality.  To me, nothing but the beauty of the rocks that really matters. 

Well, our tour guide told us the description made by Guo Moruo(郭沫若) on those rocks:

遠看大石頭，
近看石頭大。
石頭果然大，
果然大石頭。

Though as a piece of doggerel, I think it is a felicitous depiction of the rocks!
