No. 80, Section 1, Jinshang S. Road Tel: +886 (2) 2397-1377 http://www.taipei-citizen-hotel.com.tw Time of Stay:May 2016
There are many hotels in Taipei, but it is not easy to find one that fits our needs. We want a good location as well as a good CP (Cost-Performance) ratio. This May we decided to stay in a new district, just to explore Taipei a little bit. Taipei Citizen Hotel got positive reviews on travel websites, but when I tried to find more detailed information on the Internet, sponsored posts were all there was. While supposedly written by different authors, these posts were in fact identical. This prompted me to write a more in-depth review on Taipei Citizen after our stay.
Taipei Citizen is quite close to Dongmen Station of Taipei MRT. Our first impression of the neighborhood was not good. It was kind of worn out and there was no restaurant in sight. But later we found out Taipei Citizen was only a 10-minute walk away from the famous Yongkang Business Circle, where you can find many good restaurants and interesting local stores. The Hotel has a little garden with a fish pond, creating a relaxing atmosphere that is rare in Taipei.

We booked a non-smoking Honor Room, but it had a heavy cigarette smell. The Hotel staff was quick to respond and switched us to another room. The second room still had a tinge of cigarette smell. We couldn’t help but lament that some people just don’t follow rules! The layout of the room was nice, a bit larger than what we typically found in Taipei. Luggage storage was not a problem and lighting was good. The bathroom was also quite spacious. There was a shower instead of a bath tub, exactly the way I like it. Shampoo/Body wash was provided, but there’s no conditioner or lotion.
The room came with a free breakfast buffet. There were Chinese and Western foods to choose from, and some fruits. The taste was okay. We stayed for several days and the selection was basically the same. The guests were well-behaved and we did not have noisy neighbors throughout our stay. Compared with hotels in the same price range, Citizen Taipei is a reasonable choice. ▲The layout of our room.
