最近周遭有人工作發生變故，可是很不想說 " 失業" unemployed 或 lose one’s job ，不說 " 被解雇 " be fired 或 be laid off 或 be dismissed ，不說 " 被裁員 " be downsized 。

這時用俚語或委婉說法聽起來比較不刺耳吧： "be pink slipped" 或 "receive one's pink slip" 或 "be made redundant" 或 "RIF" （ Reduction-In-Force 的縮寫，原指“ 兵力精簡 "，延伸為公司因經濟考量而　" 縮編、遣散＂) 。

• Mark was pink slipped!
• Mark received his pink slip.
• Mark was made redundant.
• There was staff reduction. Mark was among them.
• Mark and his department were RIFed today.
