負面空間Negative Space是攝影取景的一個藝術說法。譬如說一大片天空就是負面空間，因為那是單調的。但是誰能用眼睛看到負面空間中隱藏的動態，就能完全扭轉負面的靜態意象，譬如說有一群飛燕的話，負面空間裡面就隱藏著動態。本圖示範的正是負面空間的V字雁行。但是若若沒有背景天空的暖色。這幀攝影依然尋常。所以這張圖是負面空間運用加上了色彩兩個要素組成的。

負面空間的運用如果只是故意用負面空間突破常理，有時候也是矯揉做作，非常俗氣。

我想負面空間在攝影取景上可能是一個概念的名詞，用來和正面空間相對，有如陰陽相對一樣。負面空間是靜態的，是少變化的卻又是不可缺少的。要不然取景時剪掉負面空間不就成了。可負面空間裡寓含有動因猶如太極圖上的陽中有陰，陰中有陽一般。給人的感覺馬上不同了。

Composition

defines simplicity in nature photography through the selection process. By choosing what to include and exclude in the frame, you can produce something simple and elegant or you can compose a confusing mess. The latter always ends up in the trash.

The rules of composition are very useful: the rule of thirds, leading lines, 'S' curves, a center of interest, and "power points" (the intersection of the horizontal and vertical lines which divide the frame into thirds). But these rules can also be broken to achieve stunning results. Some pictures are fine without a central point of interest, for example. And the rule of thirds, which suggests that important elements in the frame be placed approximately on either a horizontal or vertical third in the frame, doesn't always apply. In fact, I've placed a simple subject smack in the middle of my picture, and it works beautifully.

Sometimes the focal point can be small in proportion to the whole. Negative space, in other words, is a compositional technique used to make a powerful visual statement. A large expanse of sky, snow, or water can be juxtaposed with a small graphic subject to produce an image of simplicity with impact.
