it happened 1-2 weeks(PS since 7/11/2025 began). that some data file not disappeared but inside contents 内容 a lot disappeared. i found a way to get back thru notepad search function if you remenber some disappeared contents then those disappeared would return back temporary. however when file explorer switch version, sometimes no search function (just happed to me now) then thru [edit find] fuction it also would return back.

ps 8/3/2025 click file explorer on the top click [...] click properties General->Advanced unchecked is ready for archiving PS be alert only users data files if you have plety HD available space. i hate the auto checked function that suspect whether disappeard data files related. and what if HD available space already insufficient without knowing. without the function can earlier knowing lack of space and take action ie you control it, now you have no idea what happened. if unchecked whether cause another serious problem. the most important is where and what is the archive file names. it should be user control became under controlled by unknown, like back door.

such weird thing not just happened to notepad contents also happened to file explorer search by [date modified] if only if you remember what are those disappeared cant find data file names (most of them cant remember their names correctly but some contents, however the file explorer search function cancelled it, i dont know whether in the future also would cancel notepad [edit find] function).

what happened today? 1.file explorer popped up XULRunner error message so immediately to save all open/created notepad files 2. when save a data files would ask save as text or else and i always click text, and never use special forms such as BOLD, Italic, link, it shouldnt need to click text because they are plain text already. after saved as text files and closed, the next re-open happened lots content disappeared, lucky me use [Edit find] got back.

searched [why notepad contents disappeared unless thru [find] get back?] Based on the provided context, the disappearance of Notepad content, only to be found again through a "find" function or temporary files, likely stems from a combination of Notepads behavior, potential system actions, or user intervention

Heres a breakdown of the possibilities:
Notepads Default Behavior (Windows 10 and earlier versions): Traditional Notepad doesnt have an automatic saving feature. If you close Notepad without explicitly saving your work, the changes may be lost permanently, according to Microsoft Learn. The content might temporarily reside in system memory or temporary files, but a shutdown or restart can clear these out.

Windows 11 Notepads "Auto Save" Session Feature: Newer versions of Notepad in Windows 11 have an "Auto Save" feature that preserves your session state. This allows you to close Notepad and reopen it later with your previously open tabs and unsaved content restored. However, this is distinct from saving the file itself, and you still need to explicitly save changes to make them permanent. If you manually disable this feature or its not triggered due to a crash, tabs might be lost.

Temporary Files and Cache: Unsaved tab content might be temporarily stored in your systems temporary folder. Disk cleanup or third-party cleaning tools could delete these temporary files, causing the perceived loss. You can try searching your Temp folder for files with .tmp
or other potentially relevant extensions to see if you can locate and recover the content.

System Events and Unexpected Shutdowns: System updates or unexpected shutdowns can disrupt Notepads session management, potentially leading to unsaved content being lost if the auto-save mechanism didnt properly capture the state.

File Location and Accidental Deletion: If you saved the file at some point, its possible it was accidentally moved or deleted. In such cases, checking the files last known location, using the Recycle Bin, or employing file recovery software might be necessary.

In summary, the key takeaway is that Notepads default behavior (especially in older versions) doesnt inherently auto-save content to the file. While newer versions have a session auto-save feature, its crucial to understand that its separate from actually saving the file to prevent data loss. Checking for temporary files is a potential recovery method, and for more robust recovery of deleted or lost files, utilizing specialized recovery tools or system features like File History (if enabled) might be required

--it didnt admit notepad bad(or malicious) design caused the deadly problems so it never would be solved and worse to worst as usual. you see i am very missing MS/DOS. the only problem is physical memory addresses not sufficient. data files much stable/safe than windows especially 10, 11.

You can restore the classic Notepad in Windows 11 by following these steps:

Access the old Notepad: Navigate to C:\Windows\Notepad.exe.

Launch the old Notepad: Use the newly created shortcut to launch the old version. --it is a piece of junk because MS store already modified on 7/11/2025 caused data file contents disappeared. i did check the data file size as 128KB so searched : [128K notepad data file after open some contents disappeared unless [edit find] then those disappeared showed up, 128KB is too bigger?] It seems youre experiencing a peculiar issue with Notepad where some content of a 128KB file disappears when opened and only reappears after performing a search (like Edit > Find)
. This is unusual for a file of that size.

Rendering issues: Notepad, especially older versions, can struggle with rendering large files or files with unconventional formatting (like unusual line endings), potentially causing display glitches.
Character encoding: The file might be saved with a character encoding that Notepad isnt properly interpreting at first, according to Super User. When you perform a search, it might trigger a re-render or re-parsing of the file, resolving the display issue.
File corruption (less likely but possible): While 128KB isnt massive, its possible for file corruption to cause display problems in text editors.
--all i saw is file explorer and notepad frequently switch different version caused data files auto disappeared and now notepad contents disappeared (not all either below or top portion, suspect loading memory space limited or else)

searched [does notepad old version 10.0.22621.5415 would be modified ?] Yes, your version of Notepad (10.0.22621.5415) can and likely will be modified through updates in Windows 11.....In short, even if your underlying Windows 11 version is no longer receiving feature updates, your Notepad application can still be updated through the Microsoft Store, bringing new features and functionality.
--it is so irritate that cant stop updating even re-installed old version. i would say the whole world countries go thru Trump tarrif related must become me-type hate MS to the death as irresponsible updating/changes caused a messy and quality worse to worst. just wont leave the older most stable notepad.exe alone. what is good for the notepad new features which embeded unknown control codes and americans IT workers are incapable to solve the [either contents disappeared or data files stolen] bugs at all ?
