長看與高談

有一句老話，

對於老人，

有三件事很要緊：

老伴老友與老本。

我的老友，

業已遠距，

或已遠走。

看無著

也聽無有。

我的老本?

從來就

不曾有。

現在是靠

兒女納稅

以糊口。

但是我有

最重要的一件，

還在身邊。

因此我們能，

整日長看

與高談。

不長也不行，

不高聽不見。

Look Long and Talk Loud

There is an old saying,

there are three precious things

for old people:

old pal, old capital and old spouse.

My pals are mostly passed away

or live thousands miles apart,

we cannot have a look or talk.

I’ve never had capital of any sort, 

now am indirectly supported

by my sons and daughter-in-laws.

But I have the most precious left,

so we can look at each other long

and talk to each other very loud.

We cannot avoid looking at each other   

all day long.

We cannot afford talking to each other 

always soft.
