１９５１年１２月２８日生於巴黎的吉勃特．孟坦尼（Gilbert Montagné）是法國著名盲人歌手／詞曲作家／鋼琴手／風琴手 少年時期曾跟姐姐到美國邁阿密擔任法語教師, 並在讀大學攻讀古典樂。 １９６９年踏入歌壇 １９７１年以［The Fool］走紅法國, 歐洲與國際。 １９７６年, 連續兩張專輯表現不理想, 自我放逐到美國, 加拿大的爵士歌廳匿名演出 １９８４年, ３２歲的孟坦尼發行［Liberté／自由］大碟（Carrere／Baby Records出版）, 由Dario Farina製作 名曲不斷 取得白金唱片 成為他事業最成功的專輯
首支單曲為１９８４年２月推出的［On va saimer／我們會彼此相愛］ 由Didier Barbelivien作詞 孟坦尼作曲, Dario Farina製作成一首合成流行／歐洲迪斯可 節拍輕快討好 ［On va saimer／我們會彼此相愛］在法國反應良好, 登上法國單曲榜亞軍, 賣出７０萬張, 讓他成功在法蘭西東山再起 義大利單曲榜＃８ 同年孟坦尼也在國際地區推出英語版［Just for tonight／只為今晚］ 曲風類似, 只是語言不同 , 獲得程不一的反應：德國榜＃４２ 法國榜＃１５４ １９８６年, 香港華人成龍也翻唱粵語版［Just for tonight］ 這是吉勃特．孟坦尼事業最成功單曲之一。
