Angels and Demons--- The Movie Companion
After reading the well-written novel “Angels and Demons” by Dan Brown, we went to watch the novel as a brand new film in the cinema. It has a huge difference with the original novel and it is more convincing in some parts of the plot than the novel, however, the original novel is better in some details that the filmmakers failed to mention. Yesterday mother and I went to a bookstore and picked up this book “Angels and Demons--- The Movie Companion” When I first flipped open the sample book provided by the bookstore, I decided that I would like to buy this, because the book was filled with pictures, scenes, information and lots more! The first part was an introduction written by the novel’s creator, Mr. Dan Brown. Later in the book, important characters such as the Harvard symbologist Langdon, scientist Vittoria, Camerlengo Patrick McKenna , Cardinal Strauss… are all introduced in the book, complete with a sketch on their costumes. I learned that although Langdon wears the same thing throughout the movie, he actually has 20 of the same outfit! The Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's square, and churches in the Vatican are reassembled in a parking lot near Los Angeles International Airport, so when people fly in and out of LAX, they do get confused: “WHAT IS ST. PETER'S SQUARE DOING HERE?!?!” In this book we also find out secrets about Vatican City, how the props are prepared, comic strips that are drawn with instructions on how to shoot the movie, and much, much more valuable information on everything associated with the movie production. I found that the articles about Vatican City are very useful and also very important for our thorough understanding of the historic city and of the Catholic religion. |
