１９７６年出道, 曾是女子團體Brown Sugar(1976-1983) , Afrodiziak(1982-1988)的創始成員

１９８８年, 受Jazzie B.邀請, 成為靈魂靈魂（Soul II Soul）的原始團員之一

１９８９年以首張專輯［Club Classics Vol. One］在英美暢銷

身為主唱的卡倫也隨之走紅

１９９０年初　２７歲的惠勒與EMI簽下唱片合約, 展開個人事業

１９９０年５月 首張大碟［UK Blak／英國黑人］出版

卡倫不只參與所有歌曲譜寫, 也擔任執行製作

獲得良好樂評

第一單曲為２月推出的［Livin in the Light／活在亮光下］

由惠勒＆N. P. Hail譜寫
