The article for today’s reading and translation was “The unheard story of the Sistine Chapel.”  This speech was made in December 2015 by Elizabeth Lev, an art historian.  As said in her speech, such kind introduction of the Sistine Chapel was not the classic tour that people get today when they go to there.  She guided us across the famous building's ceiling and Michelangelo's vital depiction of traditional stories, showing how the painter reached beyond the religious iconography of the time to chart new artistic waters.  After five hundred years, she said the Sistine Chapel forced us to look around as if it were a mirror and ask, "Who am I, and what role do I play in this great theater of life?"

Here were some highlights during our discussion.

1.    Last week, Ben provided various websites for the members to link. They offered detailed information of frescoes of Genesis on the ceiling, The Last Judgment on its altar, and Michelangelo, so we could easily understand what the speaker talked about.

2.    Responding to some LINE messages, Alfonso believed his programs reached his expectations.  He thought the translation section could help members to fully understand what they read, and the pressure to all members would definitely pushes each to study.

3.    First, Alfonso played a 3D video of the Sistine Chapel to show where these painting were.

4.    Ming mentioned the social background and pointed out the sequence of 9 panels did not match the story of Genesis in terms of timing.

5. Rosie indicated some panels were set with the same figures on each side, which represented the different timing (before and after).  Such as the panel of Noah, the left side showed he grew grapes while the right side revealed he was drunk in his barn.
