We had five hosts today. The agenda was carried out smoothly.
Andy: Andy talked about the article “A passion for Biking.” The author becomes a cycling enthusiast once she jumped on a vehicle that’s completely powered by her own strength. As a commuter, she listed some benefits by using bikes as transportation tool. She also introduces the Giant, the most prominent bicycle manufacturer, and King Liu, founder of Giant, who proves that age is no obstacle for cycling. In the Tidbits session, she carries her bike of Liv, the first line of bikes dedicated solely to women. Andy mentioned why he chose this topic because his family owned a freight bike when he was a child. He also presented the different types of bike: road bike, mountain bike, freight bike, and tandem bike. Last, he wrote down the structure of a bike.
Rosie: The stress of change: We all have experienced changes in our life. Each time when we have change, pressure will follow, we'll then become stressed. Sometimes we initiate the changes, while sometimes we are forced to change. Advice for dealing with the changes: take it slow, focus on the positives, take a break, sleep well and care for health. Thanks!

Henry:
Scientific studies indicated that most of the fish’s guts contain plastic and/or fibers, which strongly impact our human beings from the web of food chain. Said plastic debris and fibers are not necessarily more toxic than the other impurities such as mercury, PCB’s, etc. as scholars mentioned, which were also contaminants as easily found in our environment, but the problem of the complicated contents in plastic or fibers will be more serious than we imagined. Since during the manufacturing of them, fire resistant agent, UV resistant agent, and plasticizers, etc. have been added, they could be dissolved when plastic and/or fiber decomposed. For those cosmetics and/or daily personal care products, such as face mask, tooth paste, the synthetic microbeads instead of conventional bio-degradable ones, such as cocoa beans, peanut shell, have been used. And they are the major resources for contamination of our environment. The waste water system is unable to filter those microbeads with diameter around 1mm, and will be flown to the ocean via going through the river, canals. Though we usually categorize rayon as the synthetic fiber, it’s difficult to say so, call it a semi-synthetic one will be more appropriate. The fiber as used in the industrial fields will be much more versatile. For example the glass fiber, carbon fiber, and optical fibers, etc.
