Weekly gathering on September 12, 2016
This was the first and last week for Ben to chair the gathering for this semester. Then he will stay in US for 6 months. During the break session, we held a farewell party. Thanks for Sonia to bring delicious cakes.
Today’s agenda:
1. Ben: cancer knowledge Though there were many difficult medical terms, he explained the cancer topic so well that each club members could understand it easily. During the Q&A session, he also provided useful answers to help us understand more. At last, Robert shared his experience on chemotherapy. 2. Tammy: article “Museum that break the mold” of Studio Classroom, August issue. She showed many photos of those museums which were introduced in this article, so all the members saw what they really were. These museums found new ways to engage visitors. Some allowed visitors to touch the display, while some used ‘augmented reality” technology.
3. Andy: report on the book “Country Driving, a journey through China from farm to factory” written by Peter Hessler. This book reflected the life of modern China through his personal interviews with various walks of life in China. He introduced the Great Wall, a traditional farm region, and a factory in southern China. There were many interesting plots in the book such as radar camera on expressway, Genghis Khan, etc.
