It was the last weekly gathering today for the semester of 2016-1.

A game was played under the leading by Michelle. Then we had four hosts

Topic on 7/4: Surfers Healing

"Surfers Healing" is an organization which provides a free, one-day surf camp. The first surf camp for children with autism. It was founded by Isreal "lzzy" Paskowitz and Danielle in 1996.

Why they founded it? Izzy's father thought that the wisdom came from life experience and surfing. He had taught all of his kids to surf since they were young. So Izzy owned a great skill on surf, he naturally became a pro surfer. He won major championships and earned top endorsements from sponsors.
He married Danielle in 1987. They had a daughter, and then a son, Isaiah. Isaiah was diagnosed with autism at age 3. One day on the beach, Isaiah was having an uncontrollable tantrum due to sensory overload, a symptom of autism. He took Isaiah in the ocean and paddled out together on his board through the waves, just as his father had done with him. A clam came over Isaiah. He was loose, relaxed, and happy.
Surfing had a profound impact on Isaiah. Isreal and Danielle decided to share the same calm and joy as Isaiah felt with other autistic children. They began to host day camps at the beach where autistic children and their families could be exposed to a completely new experience of surfing. It's amazing to see what the kids can do, and how they light up as they learn.

Summary of Henry hosted SC lesson,” Vacuum for the sea” on July 4, 2016

The Seabin, as invented by two Austrian surfers, consists of a cylinder that floats upright with one end sitting on the water's surface. A water pump on the shore then creates a flow of water into the bin (shown), bringing rubbish with it ( see the flow scheme as shown herewith) The refuse is caught in a mesh 'catch bag', and the water is pumped back into the sea.

The Seabin designed for use in marinas and ports into which ocean pollution is often swept by tides, wind and storms.

Henry also described the unit of mesh for opening size of a screen.

And the harmful situation of vacuum, the oil tank crushed as an example when the ventilator at the top of said tank was nested by birds and upon pumping out

5. Andy

Andy shared an article “The UK's EU referendum: All you need to know” from BBC website.  First, he pointed out the full name of UK is United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and its 4 main areas: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  Then, it went to the word Brexit.  It is a word that has become used as a shorthand way of saying the UK leaving the EU - merging the words Britain and exit to get Brexit, in a same way as a Greek exit from the EU. It was dubbed Grexit in the past.  Last, he briefed the 3 jokes shared in Line group:

1.    A friend just told me there is a new slimming product in town. It is called Brexit. It’ll help you lose a lot of pounds.

2.    EU has some free space now, exactly 1 GB

3.    The English language will have only 3 vowels now: a, i, o after having exited eu.
