Weekly gathering on October 3, 2016

Robert hosted the gathering and we studied 4 articles of the magazine, Studio Classroom of September.

1.    Robert: Taitung – the international city of happiness

He started a trivia quiz re Taitung and awarded chocolate for the right answer: the third largest county (about one tenth of Taiwan) but with less population (240 thousand, around 1% of Taiwan), county flower - butterfly orchid, county tree - camphor, etc. Then, he introduced the tourist sites there such as Seashore Park, Pipa Lake, Mr. Brown Avenue, Kung-Tung Church, etc. With the photos of these sites, we all enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Taitung.

2.    Yvonne: Are your photos private? People may know you more about you than you realize

        Almost all people used social media right now. At our club, only 4 did not have accounts at FB. People may know you more from social media, so we should pay attention to the privacy setup of such social media. Alfonso also reminded that we should not post high-resolution close-up of our faces to prevent evil-minded persons from using it.

3.    Heaven: Dindim the Penguin – This bird will never forget the man who saved his life

        She briefed the touching story, and then mentioned half of this article was not true. Joao Paulo Krajewski, the biologist mentioned in this article, filmed the original news report and pointed out there were some mistakes such as the wrong migration route, its age being 6 years instead of 2 years when rescued, etc.

4.    Sharow: Pet cafes for a cause – enjoy a cup of coffee and adopt a four-legged friend

This article encouraged people to visit such kind of cafes and adopt a dog or a cat instead of buying one. She shared the story of adopting her second female pet dog Dou-dou. But later on, she neutered her first male pet dog Coffee because she was not able to endure the fact that Coffee always chased after Dou-dou.
