Weekly gathering on November 7, 2016

Andy hosted the gathering. We had translation exercises and played one game.

First, Tom announced 3 items.

1.    A reminder for 2 upcoming tour guide activities

2.    Club chairperson election in December

3.    It was highly encouraged for each member to politely point out the mistakes (spelling, pronunciation, and grammar) others made. By doing so, all of us could improve our English proficiency.

Second, Alfonso would host the Nov-14 class with the topic普濟寺. He urged every member to find information and simulate how to introduce this temple.

Third, Michelle led the Jan-16 outing discussion and invited more ideas, so we could make a decision on Nov-14. Currently, there were 2 alternatives.

1. National Museum of Marine Science & Technology in Keelung and its adjacent area

2. Hiking from Tamsui MRT station to Cloud Gate Theater

Translation practice:

The 6 articles included 2 traditional festivals, weddings, credit card issue, typhoons, and cell phone etiquette.

Game on synonym:

Andy introduced a thesaurus and briefed how to use this reference book. Then, a list of 9 words was displayed for 2 teams to write down as many as synonyms they could.
