史林·惠特曼（英語：Slim Whitman，1923年1月20日－2013年6月19日）原名為小奧提斯·杜威·惠特曼（Ottis Dewey Whitman, Jr.），為美國鄉村音樂、民俗音樂與西部音樂歌手、作曲家和吉他演奏家，其特點為藉由約德爾唱法來流暢地唱出高八度的假聲[1]。

約德爾唱法（Yodel），又稱約德爾調、岳得爾歌，是一種伴隨快速並重複地進行胸聲到頭聲轉換的大跨度音階的歌唱形式。產生一串高-低-高-低的聲音。這種利用人聲的演奏技巧在全世界許多文化中都可以找到。

所有的人聲通常被認為擁有至少兩種音域-胸聲（或真聲）、頭聲（或假聲）。它們是人體用兩種不同的方式產生的。大多數人可以在一個相對較低的音調範圍內用胸聲唱歌，還可以在一個相對較高的音調範圍內用頭聲唱歌。在兩個範圍之間轉換常常會有中斷，特別是對那些不熟練或者沒有經過訓練的歌手。經驗豐富的歌手可以控制他們的聲音在這兩個音域裡重疊，可以在它們之間自如轉換來在兩邊產生高質量的聲音。約德爾唱法就是這種演奏技巧中最成熟的一種了，歌手可以高聲地用同一個音調在這些音域中來迴轉換。來回重複這種」變化音調「產生了一種特殊的聲音。 舉例來說，在著名的音節"Yodl - Ay - EEE - Ooooo"中，"EEE"是用頭音來唱的，其他的則是用胸音來唱。
