Dear Ms. Chou,
I have heard suggestions (probably from you) about building a clinic in jail for Bian/Jen. I did not take it seriously until Bian started starving himself. I believe that it is a good idea to build a clinic in the Jail. The clinic can be staffed with a doctor and 2-3 nurses. It should have the equipment to perform simple surgeries. It has a dozen rooms capable of long-term accommodation of inmates. If necessary, doctors from nearby hospitals can be summoned and portable equipment can be brought there to treat more complicated cases. It serves the following purposes:
- It can demonstrate that Taiwan is indeed a nation with the highest standard of humanity.
- It can provide complete services to Ya-Bian so that he will never need to leave the jail.
- It can reduce the need of sending him back and forth between the jail and hospital.
- It can relieve the burdens on policemen.
- It can potentially accommodate Ya-Jen's need there.
- It may need to be expanded if there are more inmates resorting to this popular tactics.
Once the proposal is announced, Ya-Jen would blame Ya-bian on his starvation tactics. It is all his fault that she may be in jail after all. It is very possible that Ya-Bian may abandon the trick because he may not want to see Ya-Jen in Jail.
I believe that this could be a good idea to discuss more thoroughly. Taiwan can't afford more episodes like this.
Kind regards,
Lukuanvx
