1. 絕聖棄智，民利百倍。
拒絕俗世認定的聖明和摒棄狡詐的智慧，對人民有百利而無一害。
Rejecting secularly defined holiness and discarding deceitful wisdom would greatly benefit the people.

2. 絕仁棄義，民復孝慈。
拒絕偽善摒棄虛假的仁義之教，民心才能恢復孝慈。
Say no to hypocrisy and refuse self-righteous teachings, so the hearts of citizens may be refilled with filial piety and mercy.

3. 絕巧棄利，盜賊無有。  
拒絕取巧摒棄私利，盜賊才不會興起。
Rejecting tricks and abandoning self-interests would help suppress the rise of robbers and thieves.

4. 此三者以為文，不足，故令有所屬。
這三個戒律依然不夠完備，還要我們的靈命有所歸屬。
These three commandments are still insufficient, it is necessary for us to reside in spiritual world.

5. 見素抱樸，少私寡欲，絕學無憂。
保有純真無邪的心，減少私利和慾望，拒絕僞學，才能達到無憂無慮的境界。
Keep pure and cherubic heart, reduce self interests and desires, and renounce false teachings, so we may live in peace without anxieties.
