1. 曲則全，枉則直。
能忍受委屈，生命會變得圓滿完全；能承受冤枉，人生的道路就會變得坦蕩率直。
Being able to withstand injustices will make one’s life complete, and able to endure persecutions will make the path of life straight.

2. 窪則盈，弊則新。
低窪的地方會被流水填滿，衰亡的肉體會復活得新生。
Low lands will be filled with water, and fading flesh will be born again.

3. 少則得，多則惑。
匱乏的人會得到富足，擁有太多反而使人困惑。
The poor will have abundance, however too many possessions will make one muddled.

4. 是以聖人抱一，為天下式。
因此聖人堅守真理與天道合一，成為了天下人認識造物主(道、上帝)的媒介(工具)。
A sage uniting with the Word of Heaven by following the truth becomes the medium (tool) for people to know the creator (Word, God).

5. 不自見，故明。
不要一切都依自己的主見，內心自然就會光明。
Do not become self-entered, your heart will then be bright.

6. 不自是，故彰。
不要凡事都自以為是，真相就會看的很清楚。
Do not be self-righteous, then the truth will be clearly observed..

7. 不自伐，故有功。
不要自以為只有自己有貢獻，你的成就就會被認可。
Do not feel only you can contribute, your achievements will then be recognized.

8. 不自矜，故長。
不要誇耀自己的權勢，人生之路才能長久。
Do not show off your power,so your life may prolong.

9. 夫惟不爭，故天下莫能與之爭。
惟有不為私利妄爭惡鬥，世人才無法跟你相爭（但為公義真理而爭戰則是必須的）。
Only when one does not striving for self-interests, so the world cannot contend him. (But fighing for righteousness and truth is necessary.)

10. 古之所謂「曲則全」，豈虛語？
難道古人所說的「能忍受委屈，生命會變得圓滿完全」，是虛晃的話嗎？
Is this ancient saying “being able to withstand injustices will make one complete” in vain?

11. 成全而歸之。
明確的說，只要堅守真道使生命得到完全，人心就會歸向你。
Speaking correctly, holding fast to the Word of Heaven will make your life complete, and so will the hearts of all people turn to you.

【注】聖人抱一，為天下式：抱，守護；一，指「道」。「聖人抱一」指聖人堅守真理與天道合一。式：法則、模範、媒介、器皿。所以整句「聖人抱一，為天下式」的意思是：聖人堅守真理與天道合一，於是他成了世人的模範，以及天下人認識造物主（道、上帝）的媒介。
