What is the closest thing to death that you have experienced?

I think I had experienced NDE (Near Death Experience) 5 years ago.   One day when I was participating the Buddha-chanting class in a temple, I suddenly felt my stomach begin to twist.   As it twisted more and more tight, I quit the class and went to toilet.  But before I could do something to make myself better, I felt I could not stand well and was about to faint.  In vague consciousness,  I could hear someone outside crying out my name, and then I heard them discussing to send me to the nearest hospital...

When I opened my eyes, I saw extreme white light straight to my eyes.  I was curious, feeling I was walking to the light.  I could vaguely see some "figures", seeming like the Bodhisattvas I chanted to every night in the class.  The figures were not very clear, but I could feel calm and peace when I get closer to them in the white light.  My pain eased, a pleasure and love I had never felt before....suddenly I thought that I have other things to do , and felt I was sinking, leaving the white light away, and I heard some noises around me.  The eternal peace left me, and somebody spoke out my name "are you OK??  You are now in the hospital.  We injected some medicine to ease your pain...." They explained the reason of my pain.  "If you feel much better, you can leave anytime."

I don't know if it's the so-called NDE.  I used to read stories about NDE, but it was the first time I had had the similar feeling as the storytellers had experienced.  Is that what I imagined because I was affected by the stories?  Or is that a real "meeting" with the Eternity?  I cannot realize.  But I am sure the ultimate love, calmness and peace are exactly the states lots of religious or new age practitioners are seeking for...
