Q: For better or worse, technology is everywhere. How do you feel about the directions software is taking? Excited? Exhausted? Apathetic?
A: I think it exciting. I can take photos, sharing them immediately to facebook, and I can check maps whenever I need to when I get lost around somewhere I am not familiar with. Now the future trend will be IOT (Internet of Things), imagine when I get home, the hot water is ready for me to bathe, and the dinner is also served on the dining table. Life is more convenient and "smart"---as the smart home performs.
But maybe it's sad somehow. There might be some problems occur along with the convenience. There will be less people needed in various jobs. Working not only provides people money and life security, but also make life meaningful with goals to reach to. Once the factories or offices become smarter, there will be less human employers needed. Could it be possible that "Nihilism", life is meaningless, again gnaws gradually in our life? I've heard some old time writers killed themselves at last because life is meaningless (their family were rich so that they didn't need to worry other things, but they were tortured with their unhealthy bodies and melancholy). Life is convenient, but in the other hand life becomes less goal for people to fight for. Isn't this a possible price we have to pay?
