Post offices will refuse to accept savings deposits by private limited companies (PLCs) starting today, a spokesman said yesterday. He said the Chunghwa Post Company had to stop accepting PLC savings deposits by orders. Though privatized, the postal service is still under control of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC). 民營化的中華郵政要停止私人營利定存,這樣真的有點把錢往外推的感覺耶,哈哈 Only PLC depositors will be declined, the spokesman said. “All other customers and would-be customers are not affected,” he added. PLCs are not allowed to open current accounts with post offices. They can only open savings accounts. 幸好平民百姓沒有受到波及捏 The PLC savings accounts have to be closed, because the post offices can no longer cope with a mountain of interest payments. Many PLCs made huge fixed deposits over the past half year. A total of NT$30 billion deposited in post offices for one month accrued NT$7.25 million a month, against a mere NT$2.5 million, if saved in banks. |
