GEORGE MICHAEL CANCELS AUSTRALIAN SHOWS

I have today announced the cancellation of the shows in Australia which breaks my heart. By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year's illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience. They recommended complete rest and the type of post traumatic counselling which is available in cases like mine but I'm afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself. Unfortunately I seriously underestimated how difficult this year would be and although I was right to believe that the shows would bring me great happiness and that my voice would recover completely (I truly think that some of my recent performances have been my best ever) I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December.

All that's left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I completed these shows here in the UK I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue.

All tickets will be automatically refunded by October 12 (including your ticket insurance premium, if relevant). Check below for full refund information.

Tickets Purchased by Credit & Debit Cards
If you purchased tickets by credit or debit card, a full refund will be processed to the card that was used at the time of purchase. Please allow a further 10 working days for the refund to be listed on your credit card statement.

Tickets Purchased by Cash & EFTPOS
If you purchased tickets by cash or EFTPOS you will receive a cheque for the full refund amount in the post. The cheque will be made out to the name of the account holder who made the original purchase. Please allow until October 19 for the refund cheque to arrive in the post.

Please note you are not required to return your tickets as the event is cancelled and the tickets will not be valid for any other event.

Special information for Perth Arena ticket holders:

Customers who currently hold tickets to George Michael's Perth Arena concert on November 10 have the option to use these tickets for the new opening event, Elton John, on the same night, or to obtain a refund on their tickets. Ticketek will contact ticket holders to advise of the process to be followed.

對抗焦慮症　喬治麥可取消澳洲巡演

英國歌手喬治麥可(George Michael)今天(30日)稍早宣佈，將取消11月在澳洲的個人巡迴演場會《Symphonica》所有場次，原因是因為自己罹患了「焦慮症」。

事實上，喬治麥可原本11月的澳洲巡迴演唱會，已經是去年因為罹患嚴重肺炎時延期一年舉行的場次。當時喬治邁可在奧地利因為肺炎險些喪命，他透過主辦單位表示，「去年生病後，救回我性命的醫生曾說，我會歷經病後創傷。我試著以自己的方式熬過，但效果並不好」，「我以為可以靠自己的方式熬過嚴重焦慮，但自去年12月離開奧地利後，我就一直為焦慮所困」，「所以英國的演出結束後，我將接受早就該接受的治療」。

喬治麥可巡迴演唱會，澳洲場次全部取消。

（法新社雪梨30日電） 英國知名歌手喬治麥可（George Michael）今天宣布取消澳洲巡迴演唱，並透露自己在差點因為嚴重肺炎喪命之後，一直在對抗「嚴重焦慮」。

49歲的喬治麥可表示，他很難過不得不取消Symphonica巡迴演唱在澳洲的場次。這一部份演出原訂去年推出，因為他罹患肺炎延後到11月10日在伯斯（Perth）開唱，但此刻再度生變。

 喬治麥可透過巡演主辦單位發表聲明說：「去年生病之後，救回我性命的醫生曾說，我會歷經病後創傷。我試著以自己的方式熬過，但徒勞無功。」

 「我誤以為可以靠自己的方式熬過嚴重焦慮。我自去年12月離開奧地利之後，就一直為焦慮所困。」

 「我在英國的演出結束之後，將接受早就該接受的治療。」

 喬治麥可表示，醫生曾建議他徹底休息並接受諮詢，但他「誤以為靠製作音樂和上場為觀眾表演......本身就是治病的方法」。（譯者：中央社盧映孜）
