Facebook（臉書）的功用很多，除了分享自己的生活及心情點滴、尋找失散多年的同學及老友、認識志同道合的新朋友，另外一個重要的功能便是「炫耀」，這也是為什麼許多人喜歡在臉書「打卡」。不過此「打卡」可不是一般工作上的 clock in 及 clock out/off 喔，而是臉書專用的術語，代表你曾到過某處，因此英文是check in。至於「打卡的動作」則是 check-in（名詞）。
