| 去年的八月，帶著當時分別不到兩歲半及剛滿六個月大的兩個兒子：大毛與二毛，一家四口一路換搭三趟飛機，經歷24小時狼狽不堪的飛行，終於抵達位於美國北達科塔州東部與明尼蘇達州交界處的城市："花狗" ---咱們『花狗一族』的西遊記於焉展開……。 （原載89年9月28日聯合報繽紛版） 《東方店……泡麵騙感情》 在台灣時，曾看過報章報導：台灣名產「珍珠奶茶」飄洋過海，在紐約、西雅圖、或加拿大的溫哥華等華人多的地方，想要喝杯貨真「價實」的珍珠奶茶不是難事。 也常聽定居舊金山多年的的朋友一再強調：她所住的地區出入、溝通完全不必說英文，甚至連蚵仔麵線都吃得到。 我們一家人住的地方卻不比洛城、波士頓、亞特蘭大…等大都市，這裡可沒有中國城提供各式家鄉美食，甚至連「視覺」的思鄉情懷都難以滿足。 此地雖有大小幾家販賣東方食品雜貨的「東方店」，每個超市也一定有個「東方食品區」；但試想在台灣生活了三十幾年，早已養慣的台灣腸胃，怎麼可能輕易地就讓一些不中不西、混雜在墨西哥食品區的東方乾貨給打發了？ 光是「速食麵」一項，就與我的期望落差極大。 在台灣吃速食麵早已不是一種需要，而是生活習慣 --- 經常冰箱中還有大魚大肉卻偏要在睡前來碗泡麵。而且「玩」泡麵的精髓就在那一包一包的調味料，近年來更有越做越多包的趨勢。 然而，此地超市「東方食品區」的「美國泡麵」，調味料大致是一包到底。當我思鄉的腸胃對速食麵的感情，由「習慣」轉換為「需要」時，這單薄的一包調味料更是令人不勝唏噓。 後來又在「東方店」發現各式各樣的泰國速食河粉，以及在台灣相當普及的韓國泡麵，剎那間我幾乎有「他鄉遇故知」的感動！ 無奈裡面的調味包多半已結塊甚至嚴重變味，其新鮮度可想而知。 因為苦無製造日期可供參考（奇怪呢，真的沒標示），往往回家興沖沖地打開新發現的寶物---泰國製的小廚師麻辣牛肉麵、韓國特辣泡菜麵…等等，撲鼻而來的卻是一陣難以忍受的異味！長久的「思鄉之情」混雜著受到欺騙的感覺，經常導致情緒失控，抓了購物袋直奔東方店退貨的情形不斷重演。 時至今日，我已練就用「平常心」在東方店購物，不管是一塊約台幣50元的豆腐、六片三公分立方要價兩塊美金的鴨血、一罐一美元的伯朗咖啡，或是平均一張台幣一元的餃子皮，買得到什麼都將就著用，東方店尋仇的戲碼也改為每月採買時順便進行。 然而在瀏覽貨架上的食品雜貨時仍不時會納悶：這包脆笛酥不知是不是和二毛一樣，已滿週歲？那桶小椰果，恐怕比我大毛還年長了吧！ 《The Fray – How To Save A Life》 Step one you say we need to talk He walks you say sit down it's just a talk He smiles politely back at you You stare politely right on through Some sort of window to your right As he goes left and you stay right Between the lines of fear and blame And you begin to wonder why you came Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Let him know that you know best Cause after all you do know best Try to slip past his defense Without granting innocence Lay down a list of what is wrong The things you've told him all along And pray to God he hears you And pray to God he hears you Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life As he begins to raise his voice You lower yours and grant him one last choice Drive until you lose the road Or break with the ones you've followed He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life How to save a life How to save a life Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life How to save a life |
