Do we have our chip?

I am from Taiwan. I am very much concerned about the two parties fight without end.
We have wasted so many year with governments only care of winning election.
The world is changing every day. Lee said that China would be some day bankrupt when he was in the driving seat. He did not do any thing to enhance our position in the bargaining table with a chip that any countries could not ignore. The whole country has wasted so many brain and resources for at least 10 years.

Last night when I watched the NHK tv program that Japanese has revolutionalised the new technic to the textile industries. They invented a new way of fabric printing by means of usingIC digital device. We know that the old printing technic like roller printing can apply 8~10 colors while the screen printing can add 36 colors. Now Japan developed a technic called IC digital printing that apply 16millions color on the fabric with 40 % flat and 60% enboss and none flate surface. In another words, they can literally put an old painting picture exactly the same on the fabric. I know that no countries could have done that. That is I called chip on the table.

Look what we people have done so far.
We have capacities to build nuke. Are we serious in inventing something which could protect our people? Let us take look at our auto induestries. For 50 years, are we capable to build 100 percent car to meet our people's need? Korea manufactures has done quite well with their car marketed in the States for years and enjoyed very good market shares. We have IC industries like TSM which is on top position on the world market.
Does our government have a solid plan to build our own car or jet plan so that we can one day
when time comes we can put those things in the bargaining table?

Let us take a look what people called information supper highway. We have DSL and even FO
which can reach the world in less than a second. What happen if there is war? All those thingswill be parrallized with missel attack. Have our governments spend billions dollars invented some thing can parralliz other side communication?

Look what Chinese side are doing. They claim that within 15 years or 20 China will be able to catch up with western countries Technologies. When the time comes even American can not ignore their undeniable power. Japan is well prepared to play a part in the world community.

What about us Taiwan? If we have a weigh to tip off balance in world of power, than we may be able to survive. Otherwise, we would be better off with a part to play with our own ability. When it comes to time that China consider Taiwan is too important to ignore and has all the resourse they need. They will come to an amicable settlement. If we do not have chip even if we want to side with either America or Japan, we may wind up becoming international orphan. It is pity the present government does not see that way. We do not have a far reach plan.
