The White Alder was sheared in half by the collision with the Nationalist Chinese Freighter Helena, which apparently suffered no major damage and steamed up river under its own power Sunday to dock at Baton Rouge -- some 30 miles from White Castle. A witness said the Helena appeared to have been scraped along its bow.

A spokesman said the White Alder was traveling downstream towards New Orleans at the time of the collision and the Helena was moving upriver towards Baton Rouge.

Three crewmen from the Coast Guard vessel were found clinging to a buoy in the cold, choppy water Saturday night about 90 minutes after the collision. They were given emergency treatment at a White Castle hospital and transferred to the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital at New Orleans where they were reported in good condition.

後來 床頭 擺了 聖母 抱 聖嬰 像, 從此 一切太平。
