Three Days at Bvlgari, Bali

I was invited to a wedding reception held at subject hotel last week. When the airplane was approaching Bali, I was requested to fill in the embarkation form, and one of the required items was where to stay during my visit.  I didnt know where it was, so I asked the bridegrooms brother who sat next to me.  You know what?  He showed me the ring wore on his finger, upon which inscribed the same name as that of the hotel.  I didnt mind whether two brand names were associate to each other then, and I thought it might have been a coincidence; ere long, I saw from a famous magazine a watch advertisement with exactly the same name again.  Then I realized it is a big name to a brand-ignorant and ill-informed person like me.

The hotel is actually comprised of a scatter of villas located on the slope of a hill facing Indian Ocean.  Not until our bus arrived the "lobby", a stone-made pavillion with high-rise platform, did I know I was not going to stay at an ordinary "hotel".  After check-in, several mini electrical carts carried the guests, through sinuous, cobbled pathways, to their dwellings.  Mine is a single walled house.  When I stepped onto the stoop and walked through the threshold of that two-panelled wooden gate with an oriental-styled awning, I found there is a trail leading to a spacious, cone-shaped porch; on top of its high ceiling hanging an electrical fan.  The front of the porch is open to a thicket of groves and the vastness of the ocean.  Laid at the edge are a pair of pool couches with a large parasol above each of them.  Beside the couches is a mini swimming pool which is made for guests to get rid of the sultry heat, I think.  Into the air-conditioned house, you can immediately notice that it is a room of primitive simplicity but equipped with all kinds of modern amenities, including an outdoor shower and an indoor jacuzzi.  The bed room is encircled with three-faced French windows, from roof to floor.  What an ideal place for a vacation!

Every villa is independent from others, being almost hidden in woods.   Despite their mordern, luxurious interiors, the villas are acturally made of wood, with roofs covered with the material like thatch or something.  The hotel has been actually built on the semi-sphere cliff located at the seashore, and people can view a paroramic seascape from everywhere facing the ocean.  So in sunny days, all things pop into your eyes are nothing but azure sky, blue sea and verdant plants.  You can spend all day long in your villa, or take a stroll within the "hotel", or lying down the couch of the swimming pool, doing nothing else.  Just relax in there, and that will suffice.

Nothing will be annoying you during your stay?  Not really.  You have to tackle with the local residents:  mosquitoes, flies and monkeys when they are going to scamble for the food from you, your blood, your breakfast and your fruits.   By the way, you also have to evaluate the depth of your pocket to see if a vacation in there is affordable to you.
