Verdi's Otello

Apparently, Verdi's opera "Otello" is an adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy "Othello".  I know the storyline of Othello, so when my wife somehow got two senior citizen tickets to the opera-in-concert of Otello by NSO(National Symphony Orchestra) I was happy to go with her to the show at CKS Memorial Hall yesterday afternoon.

A wildly jealous husband who hears and believes a set-up out of a political conspiracy and so suspects his beautiful wife's chastity, and kills her and himself at last just before the evil scheme is debunked.  An interesting plot and an universally true depiction on human's nature, isn't it?  But you know, I am not an arty person, so I have to tell you I just couldn't appreciate the singing and the perfomance of those outstanding actors, actresses, and chorus singers.  All I could do throughout the show was to read the English and Chinese interpretation displayed on the big screens, and to see if there were inadequate renderings between two languages, just like I did at watching Beethoven's opera: Fidelio ( http://blog.udn.com/kkuo0810/26658627).

Eventually, my concentration evaded me.  In the middle of the show, again, I was nodding off.  Poor little old man!

Thanks a million! If I remember correctly, this soprano song is sung in Act Four.
