Yesterday here in North America was Halloween, actually the eve of Halloween, which is something like Chinese lunar mid-July, the day of ghosts and spirits.  It is said the custom of Halloween Eve derived from ancient Celtics, and people dressed themselves in grotesque costume that night, pretending they were ghosts and witches in disguise so as to scare the real ones away at that terrible eve, then after the night they would be safe to face the next year to come.

Now you can see the difference.  In Chinese societies, people respect ghosts and worship spirits, trying hard to get along with them by amiable means, while in Western world, people do the other way round, and despise ours for being superstitious, and boast theirs of true belief of one god.

For that kids game "Treat or Trick"?  We did prepare some candies and wait for them to come, but none of them appeared.  Maybe the neighbors already knew we are "aliens", or because there are no halloween decorations, like hollowed pumpkins, set in our front yard.
