Today I went to see my cardiovascular doctor again, and this time I was told to bring my measurement device(an electronic manometer) with me because the doctor doubted if there is the accurate device that I am using now. Normally, when I took medicine on time and had nice sleep, my blood pressure would be in acceptable condition; nevertheless, every time I was checked in clinics, the measurements would be much higher. So I doubted the phenomenon might have been attributed to the so-called "white coat hypertension", meaning because of being nervous, my blood pressure would be higher as doctors or nurses measured it than I did myself at home. At clinic, the doctor asked me to demonstrate how did I measure my blood pressure by myself. I did it exactly as the device suggested, but he insisted my crook be in the center, which obviously not being in the right position because in so doing the device would indicate a warning of "gesture". I didnt argue with him on the spot because my belief taught me that doctor is always right. When I got back home, I measure the pressure again with either my crook in the center or the position as the way I usually lay my arm on, the indicators showed my pressure was normal. Well, I guess I should try other more sophisticated ways to better control my hypertension. Dear friends, I hope you guys always stay away from those manometers, no matter they are traidtional ones with mercury and stethoscope, or the eletronic ones with digital indicators. |
