When I was exactly 50 years old, I contracted the obnoxious disease on my right shoulder. Well, what was the sympton of it? The muscular pain was so unbearable on the affected part, my shoulder, that made me unable to raise up my right arm upwards to top. (If I were thirty years older and were afflicted with such an illness in then totalitarian Taiwan, I might have been accused of treason because I couldnt raise my right arm to chant "Long live, President Chinag!" in public gatherings.) Like that of gout(痛風), it hurt me even more badly during nights, which made me toss and turn on bed all night long, and it was really a nightmare. Id tried many ways to cure that noxious but non-lethal disease, such as acupucture, massage, and some other tips, but all to little avail. It took a year or so to alleviate the pain, but since then I couldnt swim with free stroke or back stroke any more. After so many years, right now its the turn for my left shoulder. But this time the infliction of pain attacked me differently. I could raise my left arm upwards, but not move backwards, so I couldnt even take a thing from the pocket on the left side with my left hand. I dont know how long will it take before the pain is gone. I guess it will be longer this time simply because I am much older than that of last time now. |
